The Secrets Of The Glowing Worms (Promo-Score)

Hi there,

here is a selection of preview written music for the tv-series "The Secrets Of The Glowing Worms". I wrote that pieces after the first Treatment and selected Scenes.

The first one is the major Theme wich i think is one of the best Themes i've ever done.

The second one is a little Piano version of the Theme wich discribes a scene where everything is lost but the hope didn't died yet.

The third was a funny thing to do, i used the BirdCatcher from "The Magic Flute" by Mozart and Chopins Funeral Marsch.
The Scene is about the Kids (as called the glowing worms) chasing a Bird and at end the bird crashes into a windows and dies, the kids are lightly shocked.

The last piece is the "showdown" of the kids and the evil with a dramatic end.

Its hard to tell about the story but i am not allowed to tell to much so i hope its okay with that short discriptions.

Firstly, congrats on the project!

The pieces are well written. Very professional. The main theme is pretty epic. It kind of reminds me of the Lady in the Water soundtrack (one of my favorites)... it's mainly in the celesta.

Sorry I can't provide you with any in-depth critiscism. It all sounds great to my ears.

Hey Alex,

thanks for listening, Lady in the Water was a great inspiration to this Music. I love that Score its so wonderful and epic. Although i look for my inspirations often to James Horner at least "Land Before Time" gave me the hit for this final Theme version.

best wishes

Hey there,

I just finished listening to the four pieces, nice job overall! I really like the theme you have come up with and developed in the first two pieces, very mature, somber when it needs to be, and very effective.

I thought the references in the third piece were a little odd... but I can't figure out why. I did think that the cymbal crash almost seems overused to the point where it loses the effect it could have in the Mozart section. Maybe consider adding a chime/tubular bell in its place at some moments, timpani may also help to.

I like the battle track, especially the build at the beginning, and the climactic section following. On first listening, I liked the introduction/inclusion of the main theme at approx. 1:10, but it almost seemed to lessen the effect of the major arrival at the theme at approx. 2:14, i wouldn't take it out though. I think you could make 2:14 more dramatic, and therefore more effective by making the crescendo before it more intense, so the subito piano has more dramatic effect and punch.

I say what I do as constructive criticism, what I would do to improve things, but it is your work, so do what you want with it. You obviously know what you're doing as I like what you have going on so far, and I'd like to hear more if possible. There were several moments that made me think of some of my favorite soundtracks, possibly some soundtracks you may be interested in hearing. Keep up the good work!

What samples/software do you use to compose/record? I like your sound.

Hey Ret,

thanks for commenting and for the critic,

i personally thought on the final piece to give more, but the director didn't wanted more, but i will (for personal use) do anonther Version of it. I'd like to bring more dramatic in it.

On the Mozart i think you are right, i will overwork that Cymbals a bit and swap it with other Sounds to get maybe a more modern touch on it. Maybe i do a little brutalise on it *lol* but i think Mozart would kill me for that rofl

I used EWQLSO Gold XP for that records, its kind out of the box, i just added a bit reverb on the whole renders.

best wishes

Florian

PS: There is coming one more piece soon wich is quit funny against that epic music.

Impressive work! I do like the cymbals in the Mozart part a lot. They add a touch of... humorism to it...
