Sibelius and East West Symphonic orchestra

Before I invest in this EWQL, I would like to know if Sibelius 5 has the potential to make samples like the ones on the above website. Please help.

Does anyone out there have experience using Sibelius 5 and this EastWest Symphonic Orchestra?

I actually have the same question. According to the Sibelius website however if you have the Kontakt engine Sibelius will work with East West.

I would still like to hear a sample from someone with sib 5 that used EW/QL but this is all i got when i asked east west

IF you want a sample check my soundclick page (linked below). 'Fghting the Swarm" was my 1st piece using Sibelius 5 and EWQL Gold.

And that's not as good as it gets because I'm still learning which samples to use in certain situations and how to suse the effects. But trust me it's fantastic, sounds as close to recorded as you can get and is definitly worth it.

And yes, in Sibelius 5 you can recreate the sort of quality you hear in those samples there.

I will dissagree with fox, slightly.

Sibelius (and Finale) are mainly notation programs, even if they are turning towards sequencing. All the demos in the EW pages are made with SEQUENCERS and I've not heard anyone with serious samples, to stick to notation only!

OK my stuff doesn't sound as good as those demos yet, and maybe that's down to not using sequencers, but it could equally be down to my failings as an improving composer.

Certainly, the difference between notation and sequencers with these samples isn't HUGE.

By all means, I like notation! No worries to that!

I'm just saying that all products and software, even if some crossfade with some others, are made for specific reasons. Yes, word can draw, but it's no photoshop. Yes Cubase can make scores but it's no Sibelius, yes ... etc...

With sequencers you can use audio, first of all. You can have plenty of inserts and plug-ins, in each track, you can mix in audio, you can... etc...

Well there is only one thing to do. First compose the piece in the notation software, and when the piece is finished, do it in Sonar or Cubase or...

sibelius is meant to notate, not to sequence, strictly quantized notes never sound real.
