Exclamation Sibelius Help needed urgently!

Hi..
Sibelius has been working fine for the past few weeks, however when I began a new composition, it started to play up.
Live playback does not work, the green bar moves through the music, but no sound is heard. My speakers are on, and other sounds eg. window media player/msn messenger work fine. I searched on the sibelius helpdesk, and I clicked play>devices, and tested both Kontakt player and Microsoft GS wavetable SW synth.
Microsoft GS was the one I had been previously using, but upon clicking test, i no longer here any noise. When I test kontakt player, it plays the scale, but when i opt to use it, it does not work properly in live playback, i.e. the cello part does not play at all, and the piano part sounds as a drumkit. Pleeease help me cos I need to finish my composition and hand it in by April 30th!!

Thank you in advance for any help!

I take it your using XP?

If so click on start/contorl panell/sounds

then click on volume and make sure you MIDI volume is turned up! As for the kontakt player I don't use it but you could try looking at the program change channel!

Hope this helps,

Chris

Above all don't worry you still have over a month

Occasionally I'll start playing something in Sibelius, then go to another program while the sound should keep playing, but it stops, and then the sound doesn't work. I just restart the program and it works fine after that. As far as the Kontakt player being stupid, you should check in the sibelius Mixer that you have assigned the instruments A. to use the Kontakt player instead of MIDI, and B. you have assigned them the correct Kontakt instruments (you cannot simply assume the program will do this by itself, it's not that smart). Hope that helps!

I used to have a similar problem, and had no idea how to fix it. It went away after a couple of months...but in the meantime...

1. Open a midi file (I opened mine in Windows Media Player)
2. Stop it. You don't want to have it playing with the music!
3. Open Sibelius and work as normal.

This is what I had to do, I'm not a computer person or anything, but it worked. It got a bit annoying though...
