Well, working with Logic, the tracks use a number of Apple loops, but I've built upon them with my own synth work and some EWQL-library enhancements.

The trailer score though was something that I had to throw together in about half an hour because my employer has this thing for short notice and large demands. So I didn't have time to spread my wings too much in terms of developing original material. It's unfortunate, but it's a trailer so it'll do.

Besides, there are revisions coming up for all of the pieces (minus the trailer) so by the time these reach their in-game status, they'll be even better I hope.

Thanks for watching though; it IS nice to have a trailer and a website and everything up for the game - makes it feel like it's really happening and going somewhere.

Wow, I think this one is my favorite along with the Desert one.

This one is ambient yet melodic at the same time, it's awesome. It definitely does seem like a space theme.

Really great work again Marius. I'm looking forward to this game, it looks very creative. The creative music should fit right in!

Thank you, Dan and Nikolas!

I was going to post a thread with all the tracks on CGEmpire as soon as the whole thing was finished - I figured people there will be particularly interested since they'll also be interested in the mechanics and art direction of the game itself, which is a lot of fun.

Not long to go now! Thanks for the support, everyone!

Hello again,

I’ll post on the newest pieces you have added since I last posted.

The trailer looks interesting. I can say that the music fits well with the game now that I have seen it.

Space Stage has a pretty good variety of instruments flowing in and out. It’s nice and mellow, but at the same time catchy which would fit a space stage IMO.

The Desert Stage sounds very much like a Middle Eastern piece. You have used there unique instruments nicely. What samples did you use for these? Even with the Middle Eastern vibe you still managed to re-root the piece back to the trance/club feel that reminisces in all these pieces.

You have defiantly given this game its own sound that connects these pieces even with the vast diversity. This is great and will be help diverse the series if they ever make a "Spectraball 2".

I'm looking forward to listening to and posting on the Main theme you will be making for this game.

Thanks, guys!

Goodridge, the game is being released on the Steam network, so it'll be available anywhere in the world. Basically, if you can play CounterStrike or HalfLife, you'll be able to play Spectraball.

Bob, I'm glad you think that the pieces fit now that you've seen the kind of context they go with. It was interesting trying to give so many ridiculously diverse themes a sense of unity; especially since the whole point was to have each level sound distinct and have its own personality. The main theme is coming soon enough....there's still an alien stage to do before that though

Stay tuned and thank you all once again for your kind words and constructive criticism

Hehe... the entrance to the Jungle theme was very cute! And then it got down to business....

That morphing synth sound really did justice to the transition from the intro, and I LOVED that flute thing... what was that? Shakuhachi? I liked how you brought out the hand drums in a little rhythm solo... reminded me of Crash Bandicoot. Then the synth came back in... very cool. What was that scary sound towards the end right when the music stopped? It sent chills down my spine. Very fun jungle sounds! I didn't think it would last so long, but it's a VERY nice touch!

SNOW! Hmm.... I don't like this as much... but I do. Very quirky! Playful... this game will have a nice Cute factor thanks to you. This track makes me think of a trance remix from a Midnight Racing game or something. It really speaking racing genre to me... a LOT. I didn't really imagine a snow world, though.

Windy ruins! I always liked this MOOD... this general idea, in games, and my favourite music from a lot of games was from these kind a areas - ruins. OHH... I hear a flute! Yayy! Perfect, that's always what I expect to here... and some sort of tremolo, which you included I see. Is that a lute? Vibraphone? Whoa... went into a more rock+techno mood now... very nice change, wasn't expecting that, but it works. Hehe... I like the staccato synth sound, what ever that is. Oh, there's that chilling scary sound again... *shivers nervously* I hear birdies, WOODBLOCK.... sea... more noise... I DO like how you add so much NON-music at the end of the tracks, very original in my opinion. This whole track sounded a little too much like jungle though.

Lava.... mysterious. Oh, this is fiendish ... ! Very evil.... oh my.... BAM, techno! Once again you surprised me. I like this... wow. You keep switching things up on me, keeping things interesting, very nice. In case you haven't picked up, I've been typing AS I listen... hmm... more lava sounds. But not as much sound as with the other tracks. Good. I hate hearing lava, it's freaky-sounding and scares me.

I hate deserts... I hope the music is at least interesting... ohh... reminds me of ... nevermind, it's perfect! I'm picturing a very rocky desert with lots of canyons and stuff, not a sandy one. Very accurate with those stringed instruments, sounds very natural. That voice was a little cliché, but I LOVED it, so I won't complain. I see you brought the techno feel a little more gradually this time. Very cool sound effects, by the way.

LoL at effects in the start of the space stage... that's just loony. Space pad sounds... very appropriate. Whoa... what is that??? Sounds like electric steel drums if my ears are not deceiving me... this is freaky. No... funky. There's a distinction... still weird and cool, though.

What's the track in the promo trailer? Yours? Not yours? <EDIT: Yours, now that I read>

Have you ever heard the music from the original Wip3out? It's by CoLD StoRage... can't remember if I showed you the stuff or not. Search for it on YouTube if you haven't, there are maybe 6 or so tracks floating around, and these stage themes you've cooked up here strongly remind me of the old Wip3out gaming I once enjoyed. Nice to see you bring this stuff back!

Wow, thanks SO much for the detailed response! That's my favourite kind of comment, you know: the fresh, in-the-moment, raw response to the music. Analysis and technical stuff is useful, but ultimately it's that kind of reaction ^ that really tells me if I'm doing my job properly, so thank you for providing the feedback! I really appreciate it.
