Very cool. I liked the fact that it was rather melodically sparse. It made it more of a texture piece. The importance seemed, to me, to be in setting a mood and varying it slightly.

I don't know if this would be offensive to you or not, but I can picture this as movie music in some kind of off-beat creepy movie.

Ron,

I was listening to this piece and studying the score. ( I won't comment on the appearance of the score ). There is a lot of quality material in this composition. There is significant reverb which contributes to the eerie mood.

The piece is fairly complex with a harmony that isn't simple and the rhythm is often intricate with triplets and dotted rhythms. It seemed to me that the ideas were flying by very quickly which makes it hard for the listener to grasp what is going on. Well, this works well for background music on a thriller/horror movie where something is "out there" but can't quite be made out clearly. On the other hand, the musical ideas could be presented more slowly.

I took the liberty of expanding the ideas in your first two bars into ten bars - this illustrates what I mean by slowing down the pace. You may hate my "perversion" of your piece but I thought I would make this suggestion.

I am happy you enjoyed this. I think it will all make more sense once all the movements are completed, but who knows?

Don't worry about being offensive, as it is hard for me to take offense.

Herb

I understand what you are saying and will consider your advice.

On the other hand, the more I have been thinking about this work, I am starting to see this as a later movement, so some of these ideas will be introduced earlier and therefore the quickness of them would make more sense.

I just haven't made up my mind what do do with this yet.

Thanks guys for the comments

Ron
