Symphony I, f minor

This is my first attempt at anything contemporary, really. Some may see inspiration from Shostakovich. I've intertwined the DSCH and BACH motifs in the piece, but I doubt either composer will approve of their name being etched into such crap as this symphony I'm writing.

It's scored for standard string orchestra (two violin sections, one viola section, one cello, one bass), two flutes, two bassoons, two French horns, two oboes, two Bb clarinets, and timpani.

I hate how Finale processes MIDI - expect there to be unexpected dynamic fluctuations.

Enjoy... or not... I don't know.

I'm sorry to say it, but I have to agree. There is very little or no coherency throughout the piece. It sounded at first like a bunch of mush, then it sounded like... refined mush.

I think some cleaning up in the chords could be used, DEFINITELY. Not only that, but you need an obvious melody- something for the listener to actually... listen...to.

It doesn't sound that bad for a first try..try to work on your chord progressions more...and organization, and dynamics too.....the beginning melody actually didn't seem useless to me..try expanding it though and making it a bit organized...

1. In the beginning do you really want all that noise?

2. And the tremelo strings too...they sounded actually pretty good to me, try expanding there too..Hope this Helped!
