Two fantasies for violin solo

The first one (released under SibeliusMusic as op. 5) is a short fantasy for solo violin, wich can be used as extra pieces at the end of a concert.

This piece's basis was written during a hard period of my life, when I started composing - so to speak this is an advanced version of my first compositon. That was about May, 2005. The occasion of the advancing was that I found myself in a very same period now... That was in December, 2006.

The second fantasy for violin solo (op. 8) has two parts, a slow and a fast one. Both is based on a russian folk song. They are "The Volga Boatmen" and the famous theme of the Tetris wich is also originally a russian folk song.

It was written in a very short time (for me): It took me only 2 days to write. It was written for an occassion and was performed by myself just a week after the finishing.

I used only very pure harmonies in the first fantasy, the second is much better. The first part of the first part () tries to use some minimalism (or it could be called a ciaccona), but nothing special. The second part is the same as the first fantasy.

They can be found at SibeliusMusic as op. 5 and op. 8, here: Fantasy for violin solo in a, op. 5 and Fantasy No. 2 for violin solo in a ("Russian"), op. 8.

Enjoy!

Hi, Németh, and welcome!

Good work, there! Comments!
Fantasia 1.
Thankfully, I have a rich imagination, and this sounds that it would be great performed live (not in the horrible midi). A beautiful score, also...a pleasure and a challenge for the player! Some issues:
1) M. 13 & 20 ... some more time to place and remove the sordina?
2) m. 125, the accent collides with the ff.
3) The ending was a bit abrupt.
4) The tempi didn't feel right at times (presto part).

Fantasia 2.
Sounds good, but it's 10 minutes! I'll check it out tomorrow!

Cheers, and welcome

Hi!

1) As it's a solo piece, you don't have to be striktly in time... I just indicated, that you should remove the sordino as fast as possible.

2) Ok

3) I know, but that was my will

4) I don't think so, but I'll look after.

Thanks for the review, best wishes.

Just heard the second fantasia...the first part, until the Vivace part was somewhat repetitive and uninteresting. Might sound good at the hands of an expressive player. The Vivace part is bound to become a hit! The show-off part, m.90-end, was the most enjoyable of all. I'd love some more...

There are some collisions in your score...

I preferred the first one, but the second was also enjoyable.

Cheers!
