two-part counterpoint first species

I have decided to go back and review first-species, two-part consonant counterpoint. What is the best counterpoint for the given cantus firmus? I am sure somebody can come up with a better counterpoint than I have. There are quite a few options.

I haven't done this in a while, but I thought I'd knock something up, in the interests of boredom prevention

Nice CF by the way

Mark

We should definitely have a counterpoint challenge.

You've gone too low for the flute there Mark, although I guess you were just using it as a clear voice to illustrate the counterpoint...

I may have a go at this...

Could someone check my counterpoint out???

I notated when I used direct, contrary, and oblique motion, and showed the intervals... I hope I didn't do something wrong...

Aren't fux exercises the greatest (I probably just failed this exercise).

Yeah, wasn't actually thinking in terms of ranges and stuff, just using an instrument that'll sound clear and with which you'll be able to hear the two lines as a cohesive whole.

nice Mark. Although I think that it lacks a definite direction, but it does have both climaxes so I am just being too picky. I always had the idea that a good counterpoint should be able to stand as a potential CF. So, I am gonna set your counterpoint as a CF. Now there are two counterpoint challenges

zentari, your counterpoint works, but I think it needs more variety, - you are going up for the last five measures. Can you make it more exciting? =)
