untitled, for orchestra, Work In Progress

This is a piece I've been thinking about for a week, and finally got some notes down last night after choosing the instrumentation. It's unusual in that I don't have a title for it, though I do have a 'concept' for the work that I'll reveal at a later date. My normal composition process is to do lots of research, brainstorming, word association, and so on about the subject I'm going to write about. This project came about on a sudden inspiration and is without much research.

Not much here at the moment, just a single page of score (9 bars). I'm thinking I might treat this as a public project, and post updates every few days. That way people can see how I write, and watch the evolution of the piece. Sounds like an interesting project for me, and I hope you enjoy watching the process!

The piece starts with a bluesy feel. I'll post audio as I get more work done!

Please forgive any layout issues, I usually don't go through my scores and make them pretty until I have sections completed. (Yes, you can see how ugly the score looks before my usual fine-tooth-combing - don't get used to it! )

...and here is an update!

I've finished the short introductory section. Again, it's not a lot added, but I have been lax at putting in time on the piece.

(and I prettied up some of the rough edges. )

EDIT: though I've apparently still missed some things... Percussion I should be labeled "vibraphone".

Hrm... can you post a sound file of some sort? It looks interesting but I can't hear it!

This is strange because I am revising and expanding a set of variations for B flat clarinet and some of your ideas are suggestive of mine. I'll post it.

Anyway, I like your material and the way you are handling it so far. I think it is a little too early to post for critical comments, don't you think so?

Naturally. I'm not really posting for review, I'm doing a "watch the composer in progress". I'm leaving all the temporary files up so one can see things change over time.

When I reach a point where there's enough to review I'll bring it to people's attention.

here is another update -

Transition section added. First full tutti section, then rubato solo as introduction to the upcoming main theme.

Fixed errors and omissions, labeling.

EDIT: forgot to put system breaks for optimized systems, will fix on next version.
