Do you play piano? I asked another person the same thing. I like to know how you approached the composition of this piece... what was your process?

Also, the stems in the left hand should be changed, or did you leave them facing each other on purpose? (or a reason I don't know of... I'm not perfect.)

Ooh yay horn. I always start to think about the approach to piano, because it has been written for in so many different ways. Of the music that you listen to, do you find your writing to be similar in sound to what you listen to? For example, your music has that kind of continuo going on, which is reminiscent of baroque and classical, while your harmony is earlier romantic (to me...)

So I guess what I'm asking is who do you listen to?

Well, my absolute favorite composer is Chopin! But I like all sorts - Liszt, Debussy, Beethoven, Bach, Brahms, ---I really don't like Mozart very much. I agree w/ Beethoven; it's finger dancing!

I was hoping you would say Chopin... lol. The melody reminds me a lot of him, Liszt and Brahms as well.

My guess is you also composed and played it in its entirety before you put it into Finale?

Yes, for the first time. Usually i'm lazy and just learn the first few measures and then go off to Finale to finish! However, i was deprived from a computer due to our monitor breaking, so I managed to write the whole thing down on staff paper and learn it. However, im positive there are some things that didn't make the very stepped journey between my head and Finale!

Also, i would really like to listen to the piece you just posted, but i can't. The Volume on my computer doesn't work since it broke. As soon as it's fixed, you'll get a critique!

It seems almost angry in some places, if that makes any sense. There are some places where you have really agitated phrases, and then there are calmer spots. The chromaticism adds a layer of interest to the piece that it wouldn't have had otherwise imo, which is good. I kind of wanted it to be more chromatic, actually, but that's prolly because my ears are so used to dissonance now that I expect it. XD I like the treatment of the melody except in measure 4, which is ehh. It makes it sound like a kid's piece to me, which detracts from the overall effect. I'd have liked to see you do something else to get to the A in measure 5. The harmony enhanced the mood of the piece, and I liked it for the most part.
Nice piece.

Not much of a music theorist so I can't say much, but I liked it as a piano piece and thought it was pretty good. So yeah, overall, I liked the piece.
