I'm sorry, but the piano part made me not want to listen to this piece for very long. I think if you changed up the accompaniment, put in some interesting chords, and made it less repetitive, this piece would be very good, because you write wonderful melodies for the violin, but lose about 1/2 of the trills.

I hope this comment helps you out.

Edit: I'm not one to nag about notational grievances, but why did you place the violin part under the piano part?

How should I change it?

Ok, I haven't read what others have had to say, so bear with me if I repeat anyhting previously stated.

- At measure 14, where you have that eigth note pick-up to 15: I think you should drop it. It offsets the pattern, and doesn't really help at all.

- At 47, have the Violin descend to a G rather than stay on the Bb. It sounds more complete. Also, instead of having the eigth note pick-up, accent the G major chord, then turn the eigth note into a quarter note. It gives you more time to realize that it's a pick-up.

- At 50, again get rid of the pick-up all together.

- In the second to last measure, the second chord played in the treble clef should be (form the bottom) Bb, D, F, Bb. Then the final chord in that clef do a C minor chord. And maybe even do a triple stop on the violin? I always have to go and look at my orchestration books so I can be sure as to what works for triple stops, but you must know.

This was a great sonatina. I liked it a lot. Thank you for sharing.

EDIT: Never mind....I don't think that anything I said was previously stated. Nico is great once you get to know him. He can come off as a jerk at first, and he doesn't have very good advice, but he is a good kid.

Evan Duffy, ah his IM is pianobeast10489.

Anyway, I found parts of the piece to be rather too repetative. In, say, measures 15-17 the violin plays nothing but that which the piano is already playing, which is rather pointless. It doesn't add anything harmonically, and it wastes an opportunity for the violin to do something else, probably more interesting.

Fortuantely, as you progressed, the accidentals somewhat made up for it (they were very nice). I didn't like the trills in measures 64-69 (maybe it was finale, maybe it was there were too many, I dno). Although, I would watch out for using JUST eighth notes for measures on end, the ear starts to desire rhythmic variation.

The Solo was nice, and (if I'm not mistaken) was probably the most difficult part for the violinist in the piece, capped well by the coda.
