I wrote this mostly as an exercise in learning to use mup (which is music notation software that I highly recommend, you can get it here). I sort of wanted to start off with a simple theme and see how wildly jazzy I could make it be by the end, and see if I could actually manage to notate it too.

I haven't written anything in like 20 years, just improvised stuff. It was fun.

This is definitely jazzy, not classical. Sorry if I'm putting it in the wrong forum, but it's also definitely a piano solo.

The .mid file is computer-generated, by mup. I also tried making my own, recording it in a sequencer (GarageBand), but I like mup's version much better. It's humiliating that a computer can play my own music better than me, but so it goes.

As this not a style I am familiar with I cannot give much advice or praise.
But it was cool.

Have you tried a notation program like Finale or Sibelius? Those are the Best I think.

Hey, I don't think praise comes much better than "it was cool". Thanks for listening!

I admit that it has been a very, very long time since I tried Finale. But I like mup's general approach better; I can type much quicker than I can point and click. And you can't beat the price; mup is free if you don't mind a watermark on your printouts, and only $29 to get a fully functional version.
