The Way Home.

Hey everyone,

I composed this last night for a scene in a short film I am directing.

The feeling and motivation behind the piece was someone realizing that the only way to achieve ones goals is to face ones self. And all the turmoil and darkness that may lie within. To find the road to one's fulfillment. The Way Home.

The piano arrangement in the beginning is very effective. It gets you into the whole film music mood. The melody that the violin plays has a lot of potential, I mean it's pretty decent, but could of been executed a little better. The combination of strings seems to be mushy sounding, but overall, I would say it's very good music to fit the mood.

Also, some parts reminded me of "A Kaleidoscope Of Mathematics" from A Beautiful Mind. Is this composition based off of it?

Hey Song. Thanks for taking the time to reply.

I did want the music to sound a little conflicted, to represent the inner emotions of the main characters, but as the secondary theme combats with the first, we see it come to center as the main theme as the confusion, while still represented, is much less conflicted and chaotic as a resolution is drawn.

I have seen A Beautiful Mind once when it first came out, so no I didnt base it off it. But now I must listen to it to hear the similarities. Thanks again for listening.

This is a very pleasant piece. To get of some of the mushyness, try cutting back on some of the reverb in the high strings. That should clear it up a bit.

I like this piece a lot Harrowing, although I still do think that your song of the Dreaming Forest is better (a bit more complex). I particularly like the shimmery instrument you use in the background from the beginning... couldn't make out whether it was a piano or a synth of some kind. I like how the piece gradually builds and in some ways it is quite stirring - it would suit a scene in a film where maybe somebody realises how much they value life and where things are building towards some kind of steady climax. But the ending is kind of inconclusive and sounds like it leads into an interlude.

My sole criticism of this piece is over-repetition. I think in the second half you could have a horn coming in and playing a more prominent melody, just to give the peice more identity rather than just be mood music. It does its job very well but if this is a "key" scene especially I would recommend that horn, or perhaps some woodwind if you think it mroe appropriate.

This is a beuatuiful piece though and very effective. Perhaps the reverb could come down eve so slightly but I dont think it particularly needs it. The impression I got was one of the slow dawning of a realization. It just needed that touch of extra strength I mentioned to turn the realization into an appifany.

Truly wonderful though, I like this very very much.

First off, this is a beautiful peice! It stirs the heart in more ways than one.

Just like others have said, it seems just a little repetative. I was expecting to hear a suspended cymbal ring, followed by a Tutti.

Not that that's important- the peice doesn't need it to be beautiful. I just thought that I should bring it up.

Wonderful job!
