What's this piece...?

Potentially embarrasing situation - it's a piece I should know, but I've completely forgotten its name.

Any clues?

Ronald

it is more or less the Carmen overture, Bizet.

In musical criticism, when issues of craft and technical consideration are set aside, what remains is more subjective. However, until technical issues are dealt with, the subjective portion bears considerably less weight.

Yes, probably in the wrong key! Wish I had perfect pitch!

Thanks though

It's not that: the sixth note is wrong, I think. In that key it should be a D natural.

You could have searched it on musipedia.org . It's a valuable resource of melodies, but it contains nothing too contemporary (I doubt you'd find anything after the 1920-30's there).
