Woodwind Trio - Flute, Oboe, Clarinet

This piece was completed midway through last year, my first year of formal composition lessons, as the major assignment for the year from my composition teacher. I have spent some time trying to get it as polished as possible and have had a run-through with players from the top (part-time professional) orchestra based in my city.

I feel however that I have had very little opportunity to hear constructive criticism relating to how it can be improved...

I am uploading it here in the hope that this can be provided.

You will have to excuse the midi quality, which leaves much to be desired.

(The midi lasts 4:40)

to me it feels a bit to 'open', mostly because the majority of the piece is written around adagio/andante, at slow pace, there's a lot of quarter, half and whole notes (and notes that extend to multiple measures). while this is okay, it tends to get boring after a while.
also, m. 40 to 42 kinda threw me off, since you introduce something that isn't really 'expositioned' well, or even at all (for lack of better words, english is not my main language).
one more thing though, the parallel seconds/ninths in m. 56 'wakes 'the listener up, but i don't think it suits the piece very well, it feels too random (while it does work in m. 59).
i also really like the sound of the last two measures, well done.

overal, very interesting piece.

Just took a peek at the score, but the oboe part towards the end with the 'd' is most likely going to be the player's most difficult part. But, the part doesn't seem like it'll be too boring to play.

Thanks both of you for the replies...

I don't intend to revise it any time soon, but I have removed the parallel second in b. 56 for now anyway (thanks for pointing that out robertn).
