Ok, here's a little theme idea... just randomishly putting notes on the page... trying to take a little inspiration from a Blue Devils show.

@ Sepctrums: Did you mean for that to be piano? Nice little texture there, but I'm worried that it's not so memorable. We might be able to make it into something though....

@ Dev: Nice! I like the first and second measures... I love the feel in the second, it seems so cool and laid back. The third and fourth, we'd need to build on them to make them worth anything. Anyways, glad to have a battery native on the scene.

Here's my go, for all the mallets, two separate parts for both vibes and marimba, everything else is one part. This came out of me while I was playing around on my keyboard set to marimba.

Spectrums- I like it, but as Enigmus said, it isn't memorable, but I think we could turn it into a filler or something.

Dev- I'm no expert on percussion, but it doesn't have anything to hold on to rhythmwise. I can't attach myself to it and call it a rhythm... of course, you never know what we may want- If arranged differently, it could be a very catchy percussion solo...

Enigmus- Love it!! That should be either an intro or an A section. Either way, it would be a cool way to open the piece.

I'd really like for you to elaborate on what you mean by "hold on to rhythmwise" - I can definitely feel a beat in there, and I can't see how it would be arranged differently (for instance, you can't play a multi-tonal bass run on a snare).

this excerpt is really a entrance cadence for a field show rather than an indoor show. EnigmusJ4 had the right idea before with the first theme he did. incorporate the battery in more from the begginning and you should be fine. I did percussion ensemble in high school for 4 years and we went to WGI championships twice second time placing 3rd in PCSO. Develop the first idea you had further and you'll be on the right track.
