Yep, you're very right. It's hard to do it like this without hardly any planning and suggestions going on. I set forth a lot of expectations for our indoor percussion ensemble as a result of seeing the direction this simple piece was going in. If we planned more, we could surely manage something more successful. As for now, if I get the time, I may take the material in this quartet and arrange it more coherently, it has plenty of opportunity for that.

I just got here, and I'm not really involved as yet, but if I might:

Let it grow uncontrolled.

It may not turn out very good, but it still could be a good learning experience. Especially if you go in 4 to 8 bar sections. Each person can interpret and develop the ideas in this thread in their own way, trying to build off of the completed parts already existing.

It'll probably turn out horrible, but there could be some really great ideas in it for everyone to consider when they return to their own work.

Just a thought.

This was great

really interesting to bring the thought process out into the external world, as opposed to keeping it locked inside someones head..

If this ever gets going in another incarnation, I would suggest the people stick to their instrument throughout. This might make into easier to keep cohesive.

But a nice result anyway, with a little planning this could definitely work.

We could take another whack at it. Who's interested? And yeah, we could have each person assigned to one part. We could do a string quartet, quintet, trio, or maybe even a piano trio. If anybody is interested, post here. There is no deadline.

I'd like to partake in this. We probably don't need a considerably large amount of people to do this.

We should probably decide on key, tempo and time signature as soon as we have enough hands on deck.

Well I don't have enough writing skills to keep from derailing progress. I'll keep an eye on the quality of communication though. There were a few breakdowns previously.

Everyone agreeing to take some general directions from a single person - subject to discussion - to keep working from the same blueprint, may be a good idea.

I'd be willing to give it a shot, although I'll admit that I'm neither a great nor an experienced composer and I have an unnatural affinity for tritones. I'd probably be better with the viola part, if there is one, than any other part. Another problem is that I'm bad with computers, and although I use Sibelius, I only have the demo, not the actual software, so I can't save. Wait a sec...ok, that would basically prevent me from doing anything, so never mind. You can ignore this post.

That "one person to a part" idea sounds really good. Then it really is like a conversation between multiple voices .

I'm interested ^^. Definitely, and I think it would be quite a learning experience for me.
