Young Composers wikipedia entry

Here's a first draft: Young Composers - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

It's basically an edited version of the redundant one on our own wiki. I'd like to see it expanded, but i'm working on the Hamauzu article.. so... please, anyone?

Since the archive has yet to be reestablished, I really have no clue what I'm talking about but I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong.
Since I'm too lazy to edit the actual page, I've decided say what I have to here.

I think there should be mention of Young Composer's Connection and the original site including it's founder as well as information on why there was a change of ownership and software (growth?).

If the forum is to have its own section, I think that there should be a general overview of what's on it. I There should be a description of the upload forums, the music found on it and how its reviewed. I know the entire process may seem obvious to a member but to someone who's never visited the forum and simply googled "young composers", it may be a key factor to drawing them in.

There should also be some description of the topics found in the discussion forum. Telling people that there are active forums regarding composition techniques and help for musical writers block will probably draw in a few members because I get the feeling there aren't *too* many places where people can get active feedback or answers to questions like many posed here. (too lazy to go find a specific example.)

Now, I'm assuming that this, along with being for the education of the internet's general population, will be a sort of publicity tool to draw people in so advertising some of the achievements or education etc. of some of the members would probably be a good idea. On second thought, maybe not. But it's an idea. I like it less as I type it

EDIT: Also, it may seem counterintuitive but why not put a description of the current forum and its features and then follow it up with a past history? When people read entries in encyclopedias or news papers etc. the most important or relevant information is usually found somewhere near the top of the page so putting the past history of an internet site at the top of its page seems impractical.

Letehn, I don't know where you picked up the notion of Mathias Richter being YC's creator, but I'm fairly sure it's wrong.

The site was set up by Mark Richer and his wife, I believe. Also, our Google ranking is not excellent...

Feel free to edit the page to reflect those points. (Also, I'd remove the "100-200 new posts a day" type stuff, as that's likely to change over time).

...ye....a....apparently...thats the case..

And unfortunately Wikipedia links are now NoFollow, so any traffic from Wikipedia wouldn't increase Google standing, which is responsible for, in some cases, 70% of traffic.

The article seems very much like self-promoting spam. I would advise the inclusion of more of YC's current activities, community, etc with emphasis on the high quality pieces being uploaded.
