I could do that, and I would do that, and be fine with the "making it a non-advertising-oriented" article, but in order to do that, I would need the vast knowledge of the Mikes to put together enough site data, facts, and info for such an article. Maybe we could start one on the Wiki here on YC, and when we think it's good enough, we can transfer it to Wikipedia.

We already have an "About" page in the wiki:

Young Composers:About

The reason the Wikipedia article was deleted all those months ago is because information pertaining to YC as a site (i.e. not about music or composition) is not of general interest to the public. We're not (yet?) notable enough to merit inclusion on Wikipedia.

As for what would merit our inclusion, they might look for something like external references to the site, just to demonstrate it is in fact a talking point.

Until we properly fulfil the criteria, time spent writing a Wikipedia article on YC is very likely to prove a waste, no matter how well-meaning the intent is.

So is it unlikely that nobody has mentioned us? Not in newspapers, magazines... etc...
*great idea pops in*

We could suggest our site to magazines and editors! It is only an idea, but then people who read magazines and articles could read about our site, be intrigued, and possibly investigate. Has anybody ever done this before (or why not)? It could be a great way to gain merit and respects as an established community. The only downside it, adds cost money unless an editor publishes a review on us on his/her on will.

You could try that, but you'd have a hard time finding a journalist willing to run a story on us free of charge. After all, there needs to be something in it for them.

I found a MySpace group called Young Composers.... I'll post YC on their bulletin and see if we get any people interested in signing up. I suppose we can't take the Group over, but at least we can 'advertise' there. Fine with everybody?

How ironic...

Well, I put mention on the site in a thread there, it's right up top so maybe at least SOMEONE will see it.
