And your favorite Beethoven Symphony is?

What is your favorite symphony of Beethoven's nine and why?

My favorite is number 6, particularly the first movement. I like the wonderful romanticism of it and the fact that Beethoven titled the movements with vivid phrases.

Beethoven 4 all the way. He has some amazing orchestral moments (especially the opening and the last bit of the 1st movement development), and while the music isn't neccesarily as profound as music from some of the other symphonies, the understated simple beauty of the 4th really touches me more than the other symphonies do.

I second the 4th - it has the best orchestration by far. I also like the third, especially the stravinskyesque moments in the development.

My favorites ... can I have more than one? ... are the 6th, because of its awesome tone painting, the third because of its amazing themeatic material and because it is a ton of fun to play (more so than any of his other symphonies), and the 9th because of its amazing orchestration, themeatic material, and the highly skillful use of a chorus and vocal solists. And they are preeeeetty.

Well I love 9th, but I feel that you can't say 9th is your favorite, well because its the 9th.
I have a soft spot for 7, and 6.

Beethoven's 5th is by far my most favourite. The way it starts very intense and angry and dark. And then ends triumphantly, it is an amazing piece of music.

I do like 5th too. But I didnt want to call my favorite because I didnt want to get yelled at because its a very "typical" classical piece.

wait...Beethoven's 5th is a 'typical' classical piece? Only in structure perhaps.
