Samuel Barber (come on, who can honestly say he's not on their list?)
Howard Hanson (despite some nasty things I've read about his personal life)

to name a few, only.
it's so hard to select a "few"... there are just too many incredible geniuses out there.

In musical criticism, when issues of craft and technical consideration are set aside, what remains is more subjective. However, until technical issues are dealt with, the subjective portion bears considerably less weight.

I do enjoy a bit of Vivaldi sometimes, it's nice background music, when I don't want to be too taxed when listening

Please note that I will not review the following without a very good reason:
1) MP3-only posts: no score + outside link = bad deal. Especially true because I'm on dialup when at home.
2) Shoutbox or PM spam: excessive shameless plugs get very annoying very fast.
3) Pieces written in a short time or with little effort: if it's not worth the composer's time and energy, then it's not worth mine either.

wow, i didn't think I'd see this thread again. I've posted before about my favorite composer here (I was even the one who started this thread) and I just wanted to say, it's still Uematsu. But Bach and Hisaishi are getting up there....
