Well, I don't know much about this style of composition, nor do I really like it. It always sounded like disorganized mess to me, but I saw the word "bassoon" and got drawn in by the lure. (I'm not a bassoonist, by the way, but I hope to learn soon)
Recorded by yourself, no doubt, very nice. Good quality and very nice playing especially. I was surprised you didn't use vibrato, I heard some little nervous fluctuations in pitch, but I think this piece would sound nice if you employed just the slightest touch of vibrato on the longest sustained tones. ... .... Hehe, you must like the higher register.
Figure starting with low Bb around 00:40.... Was really cool and funky, I really expected more of that, it was very fun, really showed that jazz element, as well as a few other places that I wish I could point out but unfortunately there isn't an elapsed time display.
I couldn't really pick out the form, but then again, you said it was very abstract and I'm not very good with abstract music.

You wouldn't have a score by chance, would you? This sounds almost improvised, I'd be curious to see it in written form.
Well, anyways, nice work and cheers to ya, mate.
EDIT: Just remembered... it would be awesome if you posted this recording in the following thread that I created recently for both instrumentalists to share their playing and show composers what their instruments are capable of doing. There aren't many bassoonists floating around, people who don't see this post might miss out.
For all intrumentalists! ... A Performance Exhibition?
