Zephyr Of the East

Here is my second composition, Zephyr of the East. Got the idea for this song yesterday, and finished the whole song today, after a few hours of hard work. Dedicated to one of my friends... I hope you people like it and please review it.
The midi file's is very very bugged and sounds very very different from the mp3 file, so I'll just give the mp3 file instead. http://www.soundclick.com/bands/page...?bandID=601227 (the first song from the top)

And I also included the mus file, for reference.
EDIT: I used a piano and a trumpet for this piece. Is that bad? Or is it up to me what instrument I choose?

EDIT 2: Forgot to mention that I wrote the melody WITHOUT the aid of my piano. To tell you the truth, I am really proud of myself. xD

Do you mean that this is the second composition you've ever written? If so, that's amazing! My first compositions were crappy, at best.
I'm not a big fan of slow piano music, but I must say I liked it.

Yes it is. On the contrary, I really like slow piano music. But not those really slow ones that would make me fall asleep.

Thumbs up Nice Piece

Nice piece, I thought the trumpet added a nice touch even though it didnt play the melody (at least, not from what my ear derived), which is what I would have expected. You know how to make the piano sound good and don't forget that the more you write the more you develope your style. Keep em coming.

OOOO! So very preety!
At times it seemed to wander rather aimlessly but it's very nice indeed though at times some of your harmonics seem a little out of place.

For your second composition, it's incredible! Keep up the good work

Like the way you write for piano, but strings, not really your thing. It feels as if is the wrong instr. for that voice and it is a bit dull.

1:19 what are you doing there? Just playing random stuff? harmony with the strings?

But generally your piano scrpit ain't bad, just the harmony with strings need to improve. I don't know how you write and what you focus on but, I find that there is no specific atmosphere or feeling. Well there is a bit, but it is way to little, sounds more like a background song for children.
I guess you've taken alot of inspiration from the FF games?

as second composition, I've heard worse and I've heard better.

Hmmm. I played them alot. Maybe it influenced me somehow. 1:19? I justmade the main theme to minor. Can I know what problem there is?
Atmosphere is something I'm struggling on. Any tips how to make it better?

by the way your other pieces at soundclick are very interesting, you have great talent. the devil's dance shows an engaging rhythm with oriental flavour and a very original choice of instruments. imperfect is not a very original composition, but is well shaped and has a nice melody, and that is already very much. finally your rondo is quite appealing, you've created a delicious and shining atmosphere. it has some uncertainty in the string wrtitting but it seems that you are in a very good and fast way towards achieving masterfulness. keep composing!
