WHILE YOU SLEEP
1 Votes
"While You Sleep" is a journey into the many dreams and nightmares of a young child's mind. With an over-active imagination any thing can be possible in this little girl or boys dream world. Although there is no specific story to go along with the music there are very specific emotions that the music portrays. It is up to the listener to create his or her own story while listening to "While You Sleep."
Thanks for the review, I'd be interested to hear more about your thoughts on the orchestrations.
The reason for the "Divisi" on the clarinets and the extra explenation for the flutes is because the way I've learned is to be very descriptive if theres ever any possibility of question. I had written a similar flute section in a band piece without the description and it confused the flute players when they first played it.
The reason the Timpani shares the staff with some percussion is because it is all one player. The four percussion staves are for one player on each staff (4 players total). I do know that all of the instrument changes will work b/c Percussion is my main instrument. Each player is supposed to have their own set-up with the equipment necessary.

really 1 percussion player only ? he must demand several payments
to answer your questions about my thoughts about orchestration the easier thing is that you take a look to what I've written in case you would feel interested on my conception of orchestration or is simply not your style...
this is my latest orch. piece, I haven't written since because I've been very distracted to write for orchestra.
btw, I liked your Cisum FB page, can you play the percussion quartet piece I wrote
?

well not one player, but one for each line =)
I will definately check out, so if I understand correctly my orchestration isnt bad, but you think possibly your ideas of orchestration or theories on orchestration might be of a different style that I might like?
If you send it to me I can try to get it played, cant promise though. (If I remember correclty youve sent it to me before, or am I confusing this for someone else?)

Nice imaginative ambient, orchestration still could be better but I think there's no need to rush you, quite fine, just about the score a few things...
ammmm "Divisi" on Clarintes is not needed if two notes are there
Also in 209 for flutes is enough with I above the staff and II below, in case you don't want a grumpy conductor tells you "you think I'm a fool ?"
I think 3 staves for trombones look weird, I,II on 1 staff. Also the Timpani should have its unique staff not shared with anyone... things like that.
But Music is nice.
