So lately I've been incorporating more and more orchestral samples into my work, just playing around with some new styles. With this one I just wanted to take the orchestrated sound and run with it to see what happens. This is the result. Maybe not my best work, but it didn't turn out too bad. It's five minutes long and it has several short movements within it.
And yeah, I realize the opening movement shares a lot of similarities with part of James Horner's Casper soundtrack. I didn't do this intentionally, it just kinda happened. I felt that it sounded really familiar after I recorded it and did some research to find that it resembles a track on one of my favorite childhood movies! That actually happens to me from time to time. It's not similar enough for me to worry about changing it though so I'm just gonna leave it. Let's call it a James Horner tribute.
Thanks to anyone that listens and I would love to hear all of your feedback. I'm fairly new to this style of music so any advice is welcome!

This has indeed a Horner-like sound. As if it was meant as a movie soundtrack. Your sound samples are remarkable. Now, it would be really instructive to know what your compositional goal is. Do you want to score for movies or concerts?
Thanks for listening! My goal as a composer isn't really set right now. I've only been composing original works for a little over two years now and I haven't had any formal training, I'm entirely self taught. For now I'm just doing this because I love it and I'm trying to improve. Doing it as a profession would be a dream come true. I think I would prefer doing soundtracks, especially for video games because that's the medium I'm most familiar with. Maybe some day it will happen. If it doesn't though I don't imagine I would ever stop doing it as a hobby. Again, thanks for the feedback!
