A Maj Fugue

This was an attempt at a 3 voice Fugue, after reading up a bit on the structure and form of such pieces. It was done as a midi file in Garage Band by me "programming in" the notes (I'm not a skilled pianist) so I'm not quite sure how playable this would be by an organist. I'm always interested in people's opinions.

A extraordinary fugue subject.Did you craft it your self. The development of the fugue does not suit with traditional sense.Though counterpoint is sometimes clever. If I were you I would have tried to compose more fugues.
Thanks, yes, it is an original subject. My first (and so far, last) fugue but I would like to try more. My knowledge of the form is indeed limited, and I'm sure I'm breaking various baroque rules, but I try and let my ear be the guide.
That's good to let your ears be your guide, they can get you far. I use them all the time regarding cantabile & non-cantabile works not to mention i play the piano by ear so it really helps. Very good fugue as far as i heard! 5*

Yeah, I think if you listen to a lot of music you're picking up and internalizing the rules anyway. Of course, this is not to say you shouldn't learn theory etc, just be willing to follow your ears if they prod you you in one direction or another.

nice fugue nig.
