Beneking - reve en re mineur - dream in D minor

Dear listeners,

and here is part III of the Trilogy "Dance on icy waters"...

The left hand is playing two keys only, hope it worked to create the morbid character of the piece, when the dance breaks into the ice...

The piece is quite simple and repeats often, this is on purpose and I hope you don´t mind.

Thanks for listening

Stephan

As you stated, the piece is repetitive and its harmonies extremely static - but nevertheless I liked your approach. The figures on the right hand contribute to keep the piece interesting, and give it a chilling feeling at times. Yet it doesn't attempt to breakout from the 'minimalistic' frame it's conceived with.

Thanks for sharing.
You introduction "The left hand is playing two keys only, hope it worked to create the morbid character of the piece, when the dance breaks into the ice... The piece is quite simple and repeats often, this is on purpose and I hope you don´t mind." sounded somewhat defensive to me.

Unfortunately the static nature caused my thoughts to wander soon. Didn't like it, sorry.
Thank you both for your comments and that you took time to listen and review!
It is very interesting for me, that most people prefer part I or II, while others like this 3rd part most, which is indeed quite simply/minimalistically constructed.
I just did not want to do another 3rd part in a similar style as the two first ones, the "story" had to come to an end ... :-)
I didn't like it that much either. I-V-I-V-I-V doesn't really do much to hold one's interest. It's lackluster even if you view it as minimalistic. While the goodness of a piece of music can't be objectively measured, I often find myself considering the amount of thought put into a composition; I can't imagine a person spending that much time composing something like this.
