Repetition
I am trying to figure out a concept for me to find my personal sound.
The piece attached uses a non diatonic phrase,
repeats it more or less literary for a short time,
then goes on to the next phrase which is a development of the previous one. It is also repeated.
After a while the original phrase might be introduced again.
Thats the concept. Short repeat, constant development.
I did this freely without thinking about harmony. But now, when I want to add voices I would like to have some kind of harmonic framework or technique in order not have to search out each note. I feel that it is impossible to build something large without a system.
When I add voices it happens easily that it sounds tonal, and I want to avoid that.
I know there is a technique out there that can help me realize this, I want it! Sigh.
Very thankful for some input!

I cant help you with your problem but I do have a question. You are looking for your own sound but you are certain that it has to be atonal? What's wrong with tonality, in all its different facets? You can always include dissonants if that is the sound you are looking for right?
Haha, I have no grudge against tonal music, and as you say, it can be stretched very far. What I have posted here I guess would be called tonal/modal (?). But I am still trying to get enlightened in styles and techniques. In any case, I do not mind making tonal music, as long as it is perverted beyond recognition.
But I need to find a way that works.
