Scores

Trumpet Solo

This is a piece I have written this afternoon, instead of doing my essay. Though who wants to do actual work on a sunday afternoon! I'd rather compose and have a good time haha.
Its a tonal work and I feel its quite a pleasant melody, very simple but coherent. I hope you all agree and enjoy it. It would be cool for any suggestions on improvements or things to bare in mind, particularly for the piano part.

The mp3 file is called sweet serenade simply because I couldn't think of a name until after I had bounced it down. The score is also in concert pitch.

Thank you.

Nice tune in the trumpet to open the piece. However, instead of a literal repetition, I'd have the piano accompainment vary (perhaps inserting a countermelody) under the second statement of the main theme. That would also set up things for the ending.

Overall, a very unambitious, relaxing piece. Thanks for sharing it.
The octave grace note seems a little large. As I trumpet player, I would prefer G to C. I enjoyed the melody line and also found the un-altered repetition a little taxing. I think the material at 18 or 34 would be a fine way to continue after 1-16 happens the first time. I can see where you are maintaining a certain formal structure with the repetition (and I think it works pretty well) but you might change things slightly if you're determined to have a repeat.

I like it. If only there was a pianist I could record it with... and some recording equipment wouldn't hurt either. =P
It is quite large however its not too hard to play in that range, and the appogiatura isn't compulsory. I may alter the repeat, I like the idea Austenite has suggested with a counter-melody as I find the repeat fairly typical of a Romantic/ classical work of which I was aiming to provide however I think a counter-melody could add more expression.
Its a shame you don't! I'd have loved a recording by someone, however I may find a pianist after easter break and have a pop myself.
Thank you very much both of you for the comments and when I alter the beginning I hope you will comment again (with approval or further criticism!). I may even consider an extension upon it. Thanks!
An embellished repeat might not be to bad either... could be very Italianate.... hmm... much to consider.
