'Temperamental' Piano Trio (Live recording)
3 Votes
Hello everyone! This is my second attempt at writing a piano trio (wrote an unfinished one for piano oboe and flute in january for some audition). This is one of the pieces I'm using to apply for a summer programme, and it's really short! I guess I really like writing short pieces..And it's temperamental too!
I want to thank my fellow music friends, Joshua Lee (my favourite pianist in sch), Nadene Law (cellist) and Tu Sijing(flautist)-both my seniors, for recording this on the night of wednesday, and they've only just rehearsed together for the first time,15 mins before the recording session(due to time constraint)! And I am so grateful because they are the first first musicians who have played and recorded my piece *sobs*. Such a gratifying and fulfilling satisfaction from the bottom of my heart!!!
:,)
There are some slight and obvious performance mistakes, but do pardon them
P.S I intended for the form to be free and varied, so there isn't really a very close structure in which I adhere to, for this piece.
Thanks and comments are appreciated!

<3 Thanks T^T

this ia good work , keep up with it
I remember being moved to tears the first time (and so far the only one
) that I heard the notes of one of my pieces being actually performed (an orchestral one, nothing less!). This should have been a wonderful experience.
Overall, a nice, entertaining piece, full of melodic and tempo contrasts. You could as well have kept writing more and more variations, but given the work's purpose, it's more than enough.
From the score I'd make just one comment: I'm wondering if the cello's higher register wouldn't have been more comfortable for a player to read by temporarily switching to tenor key (instead of all those ledger lines). Perhaps for this particular performer this wasn't an issue at all, but I tend to play safe when faced with similar situations
.
BTW, what instruments do you play yourself?

Yeah I was moved to tears too! My heart was melting!!!! <3
Ooh, tenor clef..I didn't think of that, probably because I'm not well acquainted with it, but thanks for the suggestion, will consider it!!
I play the violin, piano, viola and chinese dulcimer (yang qin). Haha why?
Thanks!

Just wondering... perhaps you might be able to perform something I write
Very nice! My favorite part was the second section before the repeat, where all of the instruments are suddenly "lively". I feel like this piece was pretty well balanced (musically and between the instruments). I think the flute might have been a little heavy (maybe the mic?).
I like this!! <3
IT'S SO GOOD!!! IT'S AWESOME ^^ I wanna download.. How do I do that?? I'll listen to it when I'm moody or something! <3 The more I listen to it, it's so interesting!! xoxoxoxoxo
