A Fun Ditty Sonata
Another fun sonata for your analytical pleasure (I hope)

Hi there isdnman. What can I say, it strikes me as quite a 'polite' piece of music, a fun piece for an upmarket dinner party! I loved that change of key or whatever it was at 1:08, that was the first time I thought "oh that's really nice", and also the fast sequences where the melody glides over the top. The echo at 1:18 was a nice effect. Not sure about the ending, like you say, if it was me, maybe I would try to use more of the interesting rhythms you had around the start like at :34-36. At some point you could introduce those again and maybe gently reverse park into the ending, going down the gears of rhythmic denominations until the engine comes to rest naturally if you get what I'm saying, rather than a flat out stall.
All the best from howdjadoo.

Thanks for your review guys - I will take a look at some of your stuff soon
@SergeofArni -
it's funny that you mention 'cutesy', this is a recurring problem with the stuff I write -frankly I'd like to know a set formulate to steer clear of 'cutesy' cmajorish stuff- I like the title fun ditty - as for the Mozart bit - that's funny- I actually don't like Mozart at all, I much prefer his contemporary Haydn, and ultimately Beethoven. It doesn't read like a sonata probably cuz I'm not classicaly trained!
@Howjadoo
a fun piece for a snooty upmarket dinner! haha - I'm glad you enjoyed the random stuff I put in there: I like your idea to end the piece - but I am so lazy when it comes to revising something I wrote I would just rather start on something new - and I get exactly what you're saying when it comes to rhythmic denominations and the engine coming to rest -

Try "PDF Creator". Google it, and download it when you find it (it's free). If you're using music software for your music, like Sibelius or Finale, it will appear as an option under the "Print" tab. Choose PDF Creator, and print the virtual image to your computer. That should do it
As for what I feel on your piece, from what I can tell only by ear -- at first, I wasn't particularly interested in the piece, honestly, because the beginning felt too "cutesy". But as it went on, you chose some very interesting directions that caught my attention. I like some of your unusual, but not overly-jarring, harmonic choices at parts of the piece.
I actually didn't find your ending lazy ... because I don't think this is really a sonata, so much as just a fun ditty. It sounds kind of like a Mozart sonata ... but for some reason, it just doesn't "read" like one. I can't really explain why. Maybe I'm crazy.
Thanks for sharing, I liked this piece
