Sextet: Fire and Ice
This was one of the works I placed in my portfolio. It's score for flute, oboe, and string quartet. Enjoy!
This lumbers on at a rather slow pace, I thought some of the section went on for too long. That is the only constructive criticism I could think of. This is a nice and modern piece. Your style in general is not the most accessible, which isn't a criticism, just a thought from me you might want to hear.
I liked this. I wont call this 'not the most accessible', in fact, I find this one of the more accessible 'modern' (imho a misnomer; in want for a more suitable word
) works.
I loved how you let the flute play a 5th over the 1st violin, well orchestrated!
in ms 13/14 and alike sections you sort of kill the great 5/8 tempo. Or better, the fermata's and Finales Human Playback do. Is this what you want, then I'd suggest to write a measure sig. change. If not (what would be my preference) I would let finale play the fermata's shorter, or maybe remove the fermata's. But this is interpretation allready
I have to say I was surprised by the title. It caused me to expect two contrasting themes, which seemed not the case.
A nice piece.
