work 2.4(b)

Work 2.4(b) is another orchestral narrative.
There are areas where I lightly "mimicked" the sounds of an old fashion locomotive as well as
just the general "impression" of a powerful and "romantic" antique train.

This is the 4th work in Vol.2 of my revisions.
I'm currently working on the score w/ Andrew McKenna Lee.

Enjoy.

The Garritan Orchestral Strings
Westgate
Bigga Gigga
DS Soundware

I have worked w/ Andrew for about 2 weeks or so on some specific details I needed to improve.

1. Harp chords. Mine were a bit to fast for the performer to set his/her fingers. So, I gave this rhythmic motif to other instruments.

2. More Choir. To be fair and practical, and to give a reason for hiring a choir, I needed to write more for them. Very difficult w/o going overboard. Also used the solo soprano section for variety.

3. Score rhythmic accents...

4. Added Glockenspiel to help the harp and vib. This also led to the difficult balancing work of arranging percussionists to play different instruments.

if your listening - why don't you let me know what you think?
Wow this was cool :) Fantastic colors and use of the entire orchestra...I like how you wove in the original motif in the brass with the soaring sound in strings etc. around 1:05 and again around 3:25. That transition around 2:50 with high woodwind (I assume maybe piccolo?) and harp was rather magical and choir at the end with percussion sounds were was very mystic and nostalgic :) Could make for a great movie score I think :) I liked it.
Thank you sir!

I will respond directly in detail in a bit...

thank you - i think it is cool too.
complete orchestral use is something I have been "studying" especial percussion. Yes, that percussive brass motif will appear many more times.

I would invite anyone to score a film to this music.

Thanks Thomas for your review.
