This is the reading of my Fanfare for brass quintet. Hope you enjoy!

Jason,

I think it sounds fantastic! And the read through is quite good.

If only it wasn't so short... I mean this could very well extend to 5-8 minutes...

Either way glad to listen to something fresh! :)
I liked this. My only quarrel with this, but this might be a general brass issue, is that the upper voices sound sharp and the lower do not. The whole sound isn't as homogenous as your at times would expect. And I am not sure about the instrumentation, I think I hear 2 trumpets, the lower instruments contain probably the tuba and 2(?) horns.
I think I miss the trombone and cannot imagine that the trombone is missing in this quintet, but since i miss that sharpness in the lower regions I am guessing it is the case. But adding the trombone would add to the sharpness, the edgyness, to balance the sharpness of the trumpets.
But maybe the trombone was just playing soft:) And is there a score?
There is a trombone but he, for some odd reason, didn't play at the dynamic indicated on the score - even though I know his part was well within a playable range. I am not able to post the score publicly - and those who follow my music here should expect that my works from here on out will not have their scores on this site or any other site online.
Excellent, wouldn't change a thing, but yes, I'd add more, where I would develop more, but I'm not you.

Sounds great.
Very nice, what were your influences when writing this? It could be a great section for some major work later on.
I studied two scores for brass quintet (one by David Sampson and the other is another work that I can't really think of the name of). Both of these provided a bit of an inspiration in the basic writing for the ensemble. I don't know if I'll write for this ensemble again though. I like the outcome but it was really hard coming up with material that I felt would be useful for such a homogenous ensemble.
