Something I composed and then finished it in Cubase 5 and Hypersonic 2. So some of the instrument doesn't sound very good, but I hope you'll enjoy it anyway :)

This sounds like something out of a film or a video game. I'd say you picked the right word when you called it "Epic."

Yeah good job!:) I wouldnt call it "epic" however, the whole thing reminds me of a pop song orchestrated for string orchestra + choir. The part at 0:45 is very pop song-ish in my opinion. Its a kinda mix of pop and film music. (For me "epic" means the "real Hollywood sounding" you know with brass, choir, and everything else like *Duel of the Fates*.) But well I liked it a lot. The only real critisism I can make that you could double/strenghten the violin melody with an another intrument. And as you mentioned some instrument doesnt sound good...the only one bothered me the snares. But the point is good job. ;)

EDIT:

I liked the guitar too, but the drums...sounds like a pop/rock drumkit. If you would use "real" snares sound it would sound more epic.

EDIT 2:

Oh I always forget something. Very well orchestrated.

I like it. I does sound pretty synthetic though. I dig it. Kinda reminds me of people preparing for battle.

I think there is a bit of 'epicness' (if that's a word) there, but it isn't what I'd call a real epic piece, if you know what I mean. It's a good attempt and definitely makes me think of people getting ready for a battle or something. What I would say to you is that you need to put more atmosphere into it, maybe bring the string section up an octave at the finale, also make the brass more dominant, especially near the end. I think just doing both of those will make the piece much more believable and allow it to fulfill its potential. Hope this helps :)

The strings at the outset are far too quiet. PLEASE get some better vocal samples. *cries* ;D :20-:35 ish is too empty in the background. Again too empty at 1:00-1:17. Serious reverb work needed there, if not a lot of added instrumentation. Snare is really, really far forward in the mix. The booms are not loud enough (like at the end), and it cut off early. Final criticism: calling something of yours "epic" is narcicisstic and you're only setting yourself up to be criticised if you don't deliver. Also it sound juvenile, sorry. :P Okay, the positive. The music flows quite nicely from section to section, contrast to contrast. The harmonies are overall pretty nice, the melody is pretty rock-opera/pop-ish, but nothing really wrong with that. Thanks for sharing! Keep it up, this thing could explode with the right sounds, man.
