Hi everyone,

The local student concert band asked us to arrange a piece called "libertango" by Astor Piazzolla. This is the first piece Rogier Wildeboer and me have arranged and which has been played live. Included with this post is the untransposed score and a live recording. A few instruments were unfortunately missing: a 2nd alto saxophone, a tenor saxophone, a 3rd trumpet, and timpani. Although there are many moments where the instruments are off pitch, or off rhythm, I think the essence of the piece is clear.
Maybe you guys have some advice to write differently next time in terms of playability for this orchestra.
I hope you like it! Any comments/advices are welcome!

Kind regards,

Hugo

Geslaagd arrangement! But you said: 'Maybe you guys have some advice to write differently next time in terms of playability for this orchestra.' Do you mean it was hard to play?

Thanks :). I think this wasn't a great performance by the orchestra. Some of the instruments were off pitched many times, and that might be because the piece was too hard, I guess. We didn't get feedback that it was too hard to play, but for example at the beginning the alto saxophone has difficulty keeping up the pace, etc, etc.
Glad you like it.

I think the problem is that they did an entire concert with film/musical music and this song was performed the worst compared to the others. So maybe we arranged it to hard on the performers?
