  1. The deadline for ASCAP's Morton Gould Young Composers' competition is coming up on March 1st. Anyone submitting anything? Anyone had past experiences? Anyone won (other than Graham <_<)? I've submitted twice seriously, the last time my Kindersymphonie. I didn't win but the letter said I was "among the finalists" whatever that means.

  2. A new incomplete work for y'all. I wrote this over the weekend and I'm quite happy with it. It feels almost like Reich but not really (though I may totally be off on that description because I haven't heard that much of him...). It is for chamber orchestra slated for premiere in May at Symphony Space for the Making Score concert. Title is tentative. Suggestions there helpful! Instrumentation is one of everything including strings. I will probably be conducting this piece but I may hand it off to someone else since I want to conduct something a that requires me to do a bit more than beat 4/4 all day long. :) This piece could quite literally be played without a conductor, not that its a bad thing... Comments welcome as always! Only score and MIDI because GPO is not crisp enough to handle the stacc. rhythms everywhere. with groove.pdf with groove.mid

  4. 8 1/2 X 11, but I don't think it matters. They're looking for quality of the score.

  5. You can send any instrumentation in any style. So I guess so.
