  1. Thanks guys. Yes it's Sibelius with NotePerformer3. You get it to sound realistic with a lot of attention to phrasing and dynamics. Yes each subsequent melody has been derived from the original. Many thanks.
  2. Did this some time ago. Very curvy, plus in Etude-like piece, hence Curvetude! Guaranteed to sooth your spirits! https://youtu.be/YP9bx9KTfqg Many thanks
  3. Hi guys, I've remastered and tweaked this with an extra bit on the end. Rhapsodic in form, with all subsequent melodies based on the opening. Hope it lifts your spirits https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OENrlkI5axk Many thanks.
  4. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gEVb2Lch4qk The second of my Emotude pieces, for Piano & Cello, integrating 'Emo' piano style with an Etude form, hence 'Emotude'. Am currently working on Emotude III, but that's gonna be for piano and full orchestra! Hope it lifts your spirits. Mike
  5. Lovely orchestration. Reminded me of early John Williams, because of the combination of sustained strings and woodwind. Did you use NotePerformer3..? Thanks for sharing Mike
  6. This is what I'm working on at the moment, so still work in progress, but I hope this will give you an idea. Follows on from the style of my first two Emotudes (see my Youtube channel https://www.youtube.com/user/mikebat123), but I felt this needed a larger full orchestral setting. Finished work will be approx 30mins long! Hope it makes you smile. Many thanks. Mike https://soundcloud.com/user-455510594/emotude-iii-preview
  7. I like it, some nice melodic ideas going on. For me personally too much changing and not enough stability. The main parts don't always stand out too. If you invested about a 100 in NotePerformer3 it would sound 10 times better, and you'd have a lot more control. I like your way of thinking tho. Thanks for sharing Mike
  8. Wow, very beautiful. For me I'm with the consensus that you need more contrast in form and material. For instance, more ascending passages as opposed to the constantly descending passages, and it would have been lovely to hear the initial material develop into a strong simpler theme (the opening notes at :17 are 'I can show you the world' from A Whole New World!). Amazing quality, seriously well done, and many thanks for sharing. Mike
  9. Check out my new composition for Piano & Cello. Hope it makes you feel good! Thanks https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cGAfe-gJw9c
  10. Many thanks guys. Here's an update to the piece- https://soundcloud.com/user-455510594/rhapsody-2 Still working between two other big works atm tho, so gonna shelve it for now. Hope it makes you smile! Cheers Mike
  11. Hi guys. Here's a little ditty that's been nagging me for some time, I intend to integrate it into a larger piano/orchestral work later (Rhapsody 2). Hope it makes you smile. Cheers, Mike.
  12. In my opinion not enough variation of melody/harmony, and too much dominance in the violins. Eg b17 you should maybe give the melody to woodwind, which should be more contrasted to the original melody, and should now start in a related key such as Db or Ab. Always consider alternate keys for all notes, it may often lead you to great things, for instance it would be really nice if in b2 you put Bbminor under the Bb, and in b4 if you put Gmajor under the G, just as top of the head suggestions. Well done tho Shawn, thanks for sharing, and you certainly do not suckatcomposing lol..! Mike p.s. I really like the opening melody, just played it on the piano but on the second bar I did Ab 2nd Inv to Bb 1st Inv under your tune. Its really nice!
  13. Very well done! Are u keeping tags on how realistic it would be for a real person to play the piano part? I get carried away sometimes because it's just a computer! Also if u can muster up £100 get yourself NotePerformer3, it will really sound like a real orchestra. Check out my Rhapsody for Piano and Orchestra for an example. Many thanks for sharing.
  14. Composed some years ago, written in both contemporary and jazz styles. Hope you enjoy. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QV76RLRVce4
  15. Its great to listen to, def worthy of any action film! The rhythm you set up at the beginning is great, well thought out and well placed. Personally I thought your melodies could be simpler, less jumpy and more repetitive in order to really drive it into peoples minds (aka Pirates of the Caribbean is really simple and repetitive so people really remember it). Well done Dustin, thanks for sharing, I enjoyed it.
  16. Hi guys, just finished my new piece Rhapsody for Piano & Orchestra. Rhapsodic in form but really each new melody is a variation on the first. Hope you enjoy. Many thanks!
