So, you all should know Adam is my favorite living composer. He has written a new violin concerto specifically for Anne Akiko Meyers to premier. It premiered in San Diego early this month. There is a recorded live stream of the entire concert on facebook that I am going to link to. I think it is a next step in his maturing as a composer. He has thrown some new ideas and sounds into this piece that you wouldn't typically hear from him. He still stays true to his style, but he is branching out. I think it is a more free piece with more development. It is gorgeous and lovely and exciting and cool
I have rambled quite extensively about my love of what is going on in music these days. I have several favorite new composers. At the very top of that list is Adam Schoenberg. I love his style. He fits the mold of these new composers that have returned to a sense of melody and tonality. However, his music has such an unbridled optimism. When a lot of music for a long time has been so introspective and so mathematical or contrived and mechanic it is very refreshing to hear someone composing for the sake of optimism, positivity and beauty.
