  1. Hello, friends! I recently joined this forum, and this is my first post here. I have been working on this piece for a little while now to use in my college application portfolios. I would love to get some feedback on it, if anyone is inclined to listen and look at it. I will be recording it next week, so anything you have to say would be great.
  2. Think snow, vast, white-covered meadows of snow ...
  3. Hey everyone! This piece is something unusual to me, as I was always writing my original music, but this time I made a re-make of a 80's pop song which was a major hit in Slovak radios back then. I have been asked by the artist himself-Peter Nagy, to do a different version, something in the romantic/movie piano style of my other compositions from the album that I gifted to him, and so I gladly agreed and here's the result. You can also listen to the original 80's version by Peter Nagy here. On the top there's the original version and down below there's my version. I hope you'll like it! P.S. my version is also included on my debut piano album which you can listen to or buy here https://oliverbohovic.bandcamp.com/album/ballerina
  4. I'd love to get your feedback. This is like a sweet lullaby, but with contemporary sounds and melody.
  5. Hello, This is a piece I have been composing for the past couple of days. Any criticism is welcome, although I may not go back to work on the piece further, so I just thought I would leave it here. Cheers -R
  6. Hello everybody! I just finished my Piano Concerto No.1 ''Octaves'' in f minor. The Concerto consists of only one movement: Allegro con brio. The music is, of course, written for piano and string orchestra. The goal for me to write this piano concerto was to learn more about how to write for piano and how to write in a more classical, early romantic style. Note that I added some more contemporary elements as well. The concerto is in free Sonata Form: Exposition - Exposition repetition with piano (classical) || Development (many more modern elements) || Recapitulation without the second theme. I ommited the second theme in the recapitulation, because I felt like this theme was already 'mentioned' too frequently. Furtheremore, ending with the first theme sounds fine to me. What do you think about the music? Particularly the development? *The lay-out of the score still has to be done. Piano_Concerto_No.1_''Octaves''.mp3 Maarten
  7. Hello everyone, this is the piece I newly composed, hope you like it
  8. I'd like to encourage EVERYONE on here to take a listen to a 24/7 radio station dedicated to promoting works by living composers. Many of the works programmed so far have not had any real performance outside of their premiere. One work, that I know of, hadn't even had a premiere -the broadcast turned out to be its world premiere! The radio station can be viewed here: http://etlux.playtheradio.com We also have a companion website, still in development, that features a program of the works played, program notes for selected works, composer bios, and a forum to connect musicians with featured composers with the goal of generating future performance and commission opportunities. The website can be viewed here: https://etluxradio.playtheradio.com ALSO: I am sponsoring a YCM Forum Competition seeking radio jingles. The deadline is September 15! Get those Jingles written!!
  9. Prelude III: This prelude is more of a meditation, similar to prelude 1 -however, this is non-serial. The basis is the left hand arpeggiation pattern. Hope you enjoy! Prelude IV: This prelude, comprised of only 4 notes, is a theme and set of variations on the opening 2 bars. I tried to keep interest. Still tinkering with musescore -so some of the articulation marks at the ending are incomplete. I'll add those later. Hope you enjoy!
  10. Hey young composers, I have composed a short Adagio for Orchestra! Feel free to review it! http://soundclick.com/share.cfm?id=13606288 kind regards K. D.
  11. This is just a trifle really. Started these about 2 months ago. The idea is a brief prelude written every morning. The first one plays around with a serial matrix -purposefully breaking the means at which the matrix is used to generate the material for a piece. The second one follows this same purposeful inconsideration of serial technique by juxtaposing the material from the matrix in a particular manner. Again, these two are mere trifles -serious pieces, but really just trifles. Note, I'm just learning musescore. I don't know the full ins and outs of making the scores look professional -so don't bother critiquing that!
  12. Hello everyone, this is the piece I newly composed, hope you like it.
  13. A string quartet that I completed on the 16th of June. It is in the classical style, inspired by the quartets of Mozart, Haydn, and Kozeluch (A very underrated composer who was more popular than Mozart during his life).
  14. Hello all :), It's my little piano composition. I' m self- taught musician so please, be understanding. :)
  15. My first piano sonata guys! Have a good day and please give feedback! :)
  16. Hello everyone. My hands are nearly shaking ready to submit this now that I'm done. There's just so much talent on this site that my pieces feel pathetically simplistic and incompetent. I'm pretty self-conscious right now about my music. Even still, please be completely honest with your opinions. I'd love to continuously improve. This is a piece I wrote for an Indie Game named Blades of Orterra. It's a fantasy RPG. Pretty standard stuff. I ended up writing music for the game out of necessity, but digital composition is slowly consuming me. Please have a listen :) This is the first digital piece i have ever composed. It's worth noting that the volume is surpressed during the main chorus/melody in the beginning for some reason. Fixed on my soundcloud version. Any feedback much welcomed!
  17. A chiefly didactic piece for a Grade V violinist with accompanying piano.
  18. this is the piece I newly composed, hope everyone like it.
  19. hello everyone, this is the piece I newly composed, hope you like it.
  20. This is the piece I newly composed, hope everyone like it and comment on it.
  21. Hello, I would like to share with you a short piano piece I did some time ago. In this work I tried to write with some classical construction with my own ideas, which makes it a not serious piece. I would apreciate some feedback Thank you!
  22. Hello all, i am new to the forum and I have enjoyed reading everyone's posts so far! Here is a composition of mine written for full orchestra. It has a bit of an old school film music style to it. Thank you for listening!
