  1. Just some music I put to a slideshow of some stunning pictures I found on YouTube. Feedback very welcome 👍
  2. Hi, I would like to share some of my previous works to newer members and anyone who would love to listen to them. And guys if you have enjoyed listening to these, please visit an earlier post where I also uploaded my most popular viewed pieces here at this link: Batch of Pieces Pt. 2 I would love to hear your feedback and allow me the chance to follow your music and also enjoy what you guys have posted. Thanks a lot everyone!
  3. Hey peeps, Put this together today for another scene. Starts with a girl getting off a plane, montage through the airport, before catching an uber and having an awkward conversation. Looking for any feedback you might have!
  4. Hey all! I was hoping I could post this here, and have you guys review my composition. I only ask that if you do enjoy my creation, that you please share it on social media, by sharing it from the video page here: Just allow yourself to listen - that is all-- http://indi.com/95ktp
  5. Hi all, I had this idea for piano but wound up trying to orchestrate it over the past few days. I'm open to any suggestions and comments. Also, a question: saving MIDI out of Finale has been sounding terrible lately. The instruments all sound terrible and cheap. AND as you'll year, some of them have the piano sound swapped out for their normal sound. I am at a loss for what to do. I can save it as a WAV file which works well but I can't share WAV's on this site. I did not have this problem with it before so I was wondering if anyone knew if it's some sort of glitch that can happen in the software. Whatever is causing this, it's extremely annoying and it definitely detracts from the experience of listening to it. Thanks!
  6. Hey people would love some feedback on this track :) please criticize the crap out of it if you want - anything is welcome. Thanks guys, your input has shaped my composing more than i can express and I appreciate and value every word of it.
  7. Just want to hear opinions and corrections on my work i know there is a lot i made bad/wrong :D Its just by ear and no theory involved at all. Thanks have a great day all
  8. Hi fellow composers! My name is Kian, a Shanghai, China based composer and visual media audio specialist. I'm a graduate of the world prestigious Berklee College of Music and have had more than 10 years of industry experience working on a range of projects including AAA+ games such as Eve Online, Dishonored, Spec Ops: The Line, Dust 514 and block buster Chinese films notably Wolf Warrior. You may find more information about me and my works through my website: www.kianhow.com After more than 10 years of being in the industry and having spent considerable time working in the East and West, I have accumulated much highly valuable experience which I believe will help composers navigate through their careers with much ease. And considering the rise of the economic powers of Asian countries in recent years, there will be more opportunities for composers to explore in this region and I will have highly valuable information that can help aspiring composers intending to exploit the growing markets of the east. I have written a series of articles with the specific purpose of assisting composers achieving their goals. If you find my articles to have provided any value to you, do share it to others as sharing is caring and if there's any questions or topics you'd like me to write about, do get in touch with me :) https://www.kianhow.com/single-post/2017/08/08/Truths-About-Being-a-ComposerThat-You-Should-Know-1-Understanding-the-realities-of-being-a-composer https://www.kianhow.com/single-post/2017/08/08/Truths-About-Being-a-ComposerThat-You-Should-Know-2-Understanding-the-function-of-a-“work-for-hire”-composer Thanks and I wish all of you the best of luck with your careers! -Kian Music Composer | Visual Media Audio Specialist www.kianhow.com
  9. Hi everyone. I'm a composer who mainly writes piano and concert band music. Here is something that I have been working on. Please give me some critique if you have it, especially about the string parts because I don't know much about writing for them. Thanks in advance for listening! Hope you like it!
  10. Hey guys, I'm really interested in producing orchestral stuff lately. Because my arrangements aren't the best ones so far, I want to learn from other projects before I compose whole orchestral songs. In my opinion, the best way to do this, is to make great songs even greater and learn from them. If you don't know what an orchestral intro is, just search on YouTube for "Orchestral Intro Edit". It's basically a short intro of your song (EDM for example), which keeps the style of your song, but is made out of high quality orchestral instruments. What do you have to do? If you want an intro for free, just send me all MIDI files of your song to: "yourfuturemusic@freenet.de" If I like the song and think an orchestral intro would sound good there, I will come back to you after my holidays. With sending me your MIDI files, you agree and allow me to upload the final result onto my YouTube channel and monetize the video, if I decide to do an intro for you. This could be also a great promotion for you and your song, since my YouTube channel has 85.000+ subscribers. Is it worth for you to get one? Well... It's for free right? If you like it, you have a great new intro for your song. If you don't like it, you've lost nothing ;) Can't wait to hear your creations :)
  11. Hello everyone. My hands are nearly shaking ready to submit this now that I'm done. There's just so much talent on this site that my pieces feel pathetically simplistic and incompetent. I'm pretty self-conscious right now about my music. Even still, please be completely honest with your opinions. I'd love to continuously improve. This is a piece I wrote for an Indie Game named Blades of Orterra. It's a fantasy RPG. Pretty standard stuff. I ended up writing music for the game out of necessity, but digital composition is slowly consuming me. Please have a listen :) This is the first digital piece i have ever composed. It's worth noting that the volume is surpressed during the main chorus/melody in the beginning for some reason. Fixed on my soundcloud version. Any feedback much welcomed!
  12. Hi, I'm new at this forum and at writing music. Had a go on a orchestral piece about pirates. Please feel free to listen and criticize. Any input is very valuable :) Cheers!
  13. Howdy, I tried my best to compose the score to a little horror production called „Sarah”, a short film (18-19 min) produced by film students from all departments about a series of murderous events around a remote cabin the woods. It was executed for educational purpose only; nobody involved got any money. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CVx9Q85qQ40 However, I am eager to get some early feedback on the music, especially some hints concerning the mix and the overall sound. Is it realistic enough? If not, what sucks the most? Of course, there were no real accoustic instruments involved. Fell free to tel me what you think about it. :) Maybe you'll recognize the major motif (a falling fourth/tritone shift) here or there. ;) Best regards Dustin
  14. Hi everyone! This is an orchestral waltz that I've composed a few years ago, but it was only now when I got back to the piece again and I re-arranged it for a 35 piece orchestra which will play it on a film music festival in Bratislava in October. Hopefully, you'll like it, let me know please! :)
  15. I am fairly new as a composer. I have no music background ( theory ) and no musical education. I started playing guitar 4 years ago, and since 3-4 months iv started using my guitar as a "root" instrument for creating what iv always wanted and what iv enjoyed listening as a kid and as an adult. Like i said, im new in this i have some months experience with FL studios and it would be a VERY good step in my career if you guys can help me take notes in what i do. So here is my first so called soundtrack or composition, enjoy it and tell me what you think. Thanks
  16. Three tracks each with slightly different characteristics.
  17. Hi there, I spent the last days working on this little tune... https://www.soundclick.com/artist/default.cfm?bandID=674265 ...a somewhat rhythmically driven (almost march-like) medieval/fantasy theme soundtrack theme. It's build upon a (hopefully) heroic melody and is intended to accompany the travel montage of a fantasy epic (game/film). If you have some handy tips, especially concerning the mix, please do not hesitate to share your insights. :) Best regards Dustin
  18. Today the world and story inspired by the art and in the same time - by anime movie called Akira. My main problem here - was this part with large orchestra, strings, brasses and drums. My orchestration here is very weak - can You advice me something?Enjoy : ) >> YOUTUBE LINK - Sylvester G. Faustmann - The Awakening of Power << Inspiration:
  19. 07. Mrs. Fieldmouse, Mr. Mole.mp3 This suite of ten short movements tells the story of Hans Christian Andersen's classic fairy tale "Thumbelina," written in my best attempt at the Romantic idiom. For those not familiar with the story, find the full text here or a synopsis here. This piece is the culmination of many, many hours of work for me, and I consider it my best work thus far. It lasts about 25 minutes total. Any feedback would be especially appreciated. Thanks for listening!
  20. Hello, this is my new song about Spring. I'm sorry if I'm late. :D I didn't have much time to write music these days. I hope, you'll like my new work, please write your opinion in comment! https://soundcloud.com/mardumusix/oliver-kovacs-spring-is-coming
  21. Hey guys, I did some live recordings with the budapest scoring orchestra in 2015, here's my favorite one, "Spaghetti Con Brio", enjoy! : (mix by Greg Townley) They had just around 25 minutes to record that piece but pretty much nailed it (the runs in the middle part are ridiciously hard). Here's another one, I especially enjoyed the strong brass playing: (mix by Greg again, his work was amazing on this one) And then I did another shorter one, but in a moore cartoon style direction: (mixed by John Rodd) This one is the last work I did (new to come!) and is again kinda Disney, but a bit more heroic. Actually especially the first part is inspired quite a lot from John Ottman's Astroboy (fantastic score btw, check it out if you didn't yet). If you'd like to hear more, check out my other works. http://fredericbernardmusic.com/listen/ As I was asked by a lot of people; you can download pdf scores for all compositions here: http://fredericbernardmusic.com/pdf-scorestutorials/ As an introductory offer you can download the Mr. Alice and Spaghetti Con Brio full conductor scores for free (by just clicking on the download button) you name the price for the other two scores, starting at just 1 $. Feedback would be highly appreciated! :)
