  2. Hi everyone. I'm a composer who mainly writes piano and concert band music. Here is something that I have been working on. Please give me some critique if you have it, especially about the string parts because I don't know much about writing for them. Thanks in advance for listening! Hope you like it!
  3. Hello everyone. My hands are nearly shaking ready to submit this now that I'm done. There's just so much talent on this site that my pieces feel pathetically simplistic and incompetent. I'm pretty self-conscious right now about my music. Even still, please be completely honest with your opinions. I'd love to continuously improve. This is a piece I wrote for an Indie Game named Blades of Orterra. It's a fantasy RPG. Pretty standard stuff. I ended up writing music for the game out of necessity, but digital composition is slowly consuming me. Please have a listen :) This is the first digital piece i have ever composed. It's worth noting that the volume is surpressed during the main chorus/melody in the beginning for some reason. Fixed on my soundcloud version. Any feedback much welcomed!
  4. Hi, I'm new at this forum and at writing music. Had a go on a orchestral piece about pirates. Please feel free to listen and criticize. Any input is very valuable :) Cheers!
  5. Howdy, I tried my best to compose the score to a little horror production called „Sarah”, a short film (18-19 min) produced by film students from all departments about a series of murderous events around a remote cabin the woods. It was executed for educational purpose only; nobody involved got any money. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CVx9Q85qQ40 However, I am eager to get some early feedback on the music, especially some hints concerning the mix and the overall sound. Is it realistic enough? If not, what sucks the most? Of course, there were no real accoustic instruments involved. Fell free to tel me what you think about it. :) Maybe you'll recognize the major motif (a falling fourth/tritone shift) here or there. ;) Best regards Dustin
  6. Hi everyone! This is an orchestral waltz that I've composed a few years ago, but it was only now when I got back to the piece again and I re-arranged it for a 35 piece orchestra which will play it on a film music festival in Bratislava in October. Hopefully, you'll like it, let me know please! :)
  7. Three tracks each with slightly different characteristics.
  8. I am fairly new as a composer. I have no music background ( theory ) and no musical education. I started playing guitar 4 years ago, and since 3-4 months iv started using my guitar as a "root" instrument for creating what iv always wanted and what iv enjoyed listening as a kid and as an adult. Like i said, im new in this i have some months experience with FL studios and it would be a VERY good step in my career if you guys can help me take notes in what i do. So here is my first so called soundtrack or composition, enjoy it and tell me what you think. Thanks
  9. Today the world and story inspired by the art and in the same time - by anime movie called Akira. My main problem here - was this part with large orchestra, strings, brasses and drums. My orchestration here is very weak - can You advice me something?Enjoy : ) >> YOUTUBE LINK - Sylvester G. Faustmann - The Awakening of Power << Inspiration:
  10. 07. Mrs. Fieldmouse, Mr. Mole.mp3 This suite of ten short movements tells the story of Hans Christian Andersen's classic fairy tale "Thumbelina," written in my best attempt at the Romantic idiom. For those not familiar with the story, find the full text here or a synopsis here. This piece is the culmination of many, many hours of work for me, and I consider it my best work thus far. It lasts about 25 minutes total. Any feedback would be especially appreciated. Thanks for listening!
  11. Hello, this is my new song about Spring. I'm sorry if I'm late. :D I didn't have much time to write music these days. I hope, you'll like my new work, please write your opinion in comment! https://soundcloud.com/mardumusix/oliver-kovacs-spring-is-coming
  12. Hi there, I spent the last days working on this little tune... https://www.soundclick.com/artist/default.cfm?bandID=674265 ...a somewhat rhythmically driven (almost march-like) medieval/fantasy theme soundtrack theme. It's build upon a (hopefully) heroic melody and is intended to accompany the travel montage of a fantasy epic (game/film). If you have some handy tips, especially concerning the mix, please do not hesitate to share your insights. :) Best regards Dustin
  13. Hey guys, I did some live recordings with the budapest scoring orchestra in 2015, here's my favorite one, "Spaghetti Con Brio", enjoy! : (mix by Greg Townley) They had just around 25 minutes to record that piece but pretty much nailed it (the runs in the middle part are ridiciously hard). Here's another one, I especially enjoyed the strong brass playing: (mix by Greg again, his work was amazing on this one) And then I did another shorter one, but in a moore cartoon style direction: (mixed by John Rodd) This one is the last work I did (new to come!) and is again kinda Disney, but a bit more heroic. Actually especially the first part is inspired quite a lot from John Ottman's Astroboy (fantastic score btw, check it out if you didn't yet). If you'd like to hear more, check out my other works. http://fredericbernardmusic.com/listen/ As I was asked by a lot of people; you can download pdf scores for all compositions here: http://fredericbernardmusic.com/pdf-scorestutorials/ As an introductory offer you can download the Mr. Alice and Spaghetti Con Brio full conductor scores for free (by just clicking on the download button) you name the price for the other two scores, starting at just 1 $. Feedback would be highly appreciated! :)
  14. Hey fellow composer, I'd like to introduce myself; I'm Frederic Bernard a composer and orchestrator from Germany. I've just launched my homepage and finnished the writing on my very first orchestration tutorial. It's all about how to properly apply legato on all the different instruments. It can be downloaded here. ...listening samples (including some of my own live orchestra scores) are of course included, happy reading! :) cheers, Frederic
  15. Hello everyone, It's a very short Theme. I am not sure what to with it... Composing a B part and then repeat the beginning? Hope you enjoy it! Best regards
  16. Hello! So I've been playing around with a music program I've got and I came up with this piece of music. I used a written score I had earlier and then orchestrated it all with MIDI. However, I'm having trouble finding the document, though I did upload the music onto Youtube. I would love to hear feedback; Personally, (and in retrospect) this piece seems to be quite repetitive at parts, and I think that I will definitely be changing that. Anyway, here it is:
  17. Experimenting with a bit of minimalism in a really grand, cinematic style, with exception of the V section, of course. I quite like the results, even if the piece is a little bit too simple.
  18. Let me introduce my new soundtrack about the time travel. I hope, you will like it! Please share your opinion, it you would like to! Thanks!
  19. Another old composition of mine, back when I used to write by hand. Managed to digitize this one as well.
  20. I made this track for a spacey sorta album thing I'm working on. I thought I'd use it as the first introduction piece of the album so i wanted it to create the setting of space - vast emptiness and openness. The album is based on the gravitational waves recently discovered so the voice at the end is meant to provide some background. Let me know what you think and feedback would be cool too :)
  21. Hey there, first post. This is my first attempt at composing for a large ensemble. I started it today and it's obviously a work in progress. I'm also not yet sure what instrumentation I want to use, so the strings might be temporary. Any suggestions at all are welcome!
  22. Hello! I submit to you my first piece to be reviewed. I wrote this piece sometime last year when I tried to compose an orchestral piece every month. Supriringly (not really) it all became too much to handle. I would love to get opinions on this so I could perhaps apply them to future pieces. Thank you Tony B
  23. I made this song a long time ago but I decided to post it now (you know, I don't want to post my music nonstop and annoy). It was made even before I posted the first song here, so the suggests that I was told are not implemented here yet, but atleast I would like to see what you think about it, I hope that you like it

    Opus 20

A small thing I did while studying for my exams. This is my second composition written for orchestra (modified orchestral ensemble). The mixing is terrible, I know. It was really random and all crazy, so please forgive me... Thank you for listening and wish all of you a nice, peaceful, warm New Year filled with creativity, brilliant ideas, and wonderful music!
