Hi everyone! Just got back to this forum after n years and realized that my old submissions went missing. So I went back to my old compositions and decided to re-upload some of them :) Here's one entitled "Scalar Etude" that I composed in late 2011-early 2012. I made a few changes from the original form, so I guess I'd re-upload it somehow. Hope you enjoy it! All comments and feedback are very welcome :)

Hello all! I've been composing for quite some time now, but I'm new to this forum. It seems like a really cool place though. Here's my first Lied I've ever written, a setting of Goethe's Wandrer's Nachtlied. I got a complaint from someone else that the music is "too depressing" for the words, but I disagree with him entirely. What do you guys think? Comments on the music are also encouraged. Thanks in advance. Just finished a guitar track. I think it's in C# Minor - my guitar was tuned in C#. Forget what scale I used. Anyway, it was just something I messed around with. Mainly ideas thrown together over a central melody/rhythm I found on YouTube.

Then Kadlu waked, and gripped the heavy wolf-like head, and stared into the glassy eyes. The dog whimpered and shivered between Kadlu’s knees. The hair rose about his neck, and he growled as though a stranger were at the door; then he barked joyously; and rolled on the ground, and bit at Kotuko’s boot like a puppy. ‘What is it?’ said Kotuko; for he was beginning to be afraid. ‘The sickness,’ Kadlu answered. ‘It is the dog sickness.’ Kotuko the dog lifted his nose and howled and howled again. This is a short piano piece that I composed last night while I was playing around on my piano. It is not meant to be complicated or super interesting (not that I am capable of creating anything complicated lol). I was really going for the feeling of background music and something nice to just listen to. Please tell me what you guys think. Thanks 🙂

Hello, I wonder how the sound from 0:00 to 1:00 is produced on the piano. Schnittke uses the term con amplificatore which means with amplifier. It almost sounds like some gamelan instruments. Thanks!

This piece is called "The People of the Elder Ice." As you listen, picture an Inuit village, alone at the edge of the world, surrounded on all sides by a frozen waste. Survival is a daily struggle, food is often scarce, and the fickle arctic gods constantly toy with the villagers... yet somehow the people thrive. (I've posted this music before, but now you can watch the music as you listen).

Hey guys, here's a short piano piece I wrote about a month ago as an exploration of pitch class set theory. That being said, I feel that the set that I chose (0247) is a little bit too "tonal" for you to really be able to tell that it was written using pitch class sets in the first place. So I'll probably end up wanting to give it another go. But I would love to hear your thoughts on what I do have, as well as any thoughts you might have on composing with pitch class sets, and what you might have done differently in order to create something that actually "sounds" like it was written using set theory. Oh and sorry for the mediocre sound/performance quality.

I decided to post this as incomplete, because this only the first movement of hopefully three that will make up my second symphony. If this is incorrect, please feel free to move this to the proper location. The instruments are the same as my first symphony: Vibraphone, Marimba, Crash Cymbals, Cabasa, Piano, Celesta, String Synthesizer, Jazz Guitar, and Acoustic Bass. I placed emphasis on establishing a melody and then having it reappear later. The movement lasts about 5 minutes, and was written in Musescore 2 using the Compifont soundfont. Like my first one, in the mp3, there are popping sounds that I believe are caused by an issue with Musescore and the guitars. The movement starts off slow, and then becomes more upbeat as it goes on. -
My submission for the Winter Competition. It was written pretty hastily over the past week or so, after previous attempts for the competition didn't pan out. All things considered, I liked where it went in the time that I had to write it. I hope you enjoy it.

26 Minuets for the Piano-V.mp326 Minuets for the Piano-V.mp3Hi. It has been long since I have posted or visited this site, because I was very busy. I have, meanwhile, started a set of compositions called '26 Minuets for Piano'. Why 26, if you ask, if there are only 24 major and minor keys? Well, the other two are whole-tone and 12-tone. This task is quite challenging, and I have only managed to complete at least about 60% of it. Progress has been quite slow recently as I still have other stuff. Any feedback and comments are appreciated. (By the way, the harmonies are still like sh*t so please forgive me for that). I will add the reflections and explanations for each piece in the future once I had finished everything. Note: I am still deciding between two versions for VI (B minor). The first short one is rather contemporary while the 2nd one is rather more baroque. The VI is meant to be fugal by the way. Incomplete: VI (still making a decision), VII ( I am still revising the first section), XVI, XXVI
