  1. There is a long tradition in this country of mine (Spain) of writing pieces for the piano "thinking" in the guitar. Most of them are related to the genre of flamenco, or pre-flamenco (because it was fully developed in the 19th century). We can find pieces of this kind in teh Baroque period (Soler: Fandango, Scarlatti: Fandango). But it is more characteristic in the romantic-nationalism period. The most famous piece is Asturias by Albéniz (which many people think it was written for the guitar, but it wasn't). But also Lecuona, Granados, Turina You can take a look at this pieces here: https://komptools.blogspot.com/2022/07/obras-para-piano-que-se-pensaron-para.html Having this all in mind, I took an idea from some months ago and wrote this simple piece Please, note that the andalusian cadence (Am-G-F-E or similar) is not in A minor, and it's not phrygian (nor dominant phrygian). It's just the analusian cadence, a mode by itself.
  2. Hi to everyone, since finally I have vacations I decided to try to compose a tango. I called it "primer tango?" Which could be translated as "First tango?" because it has some things that get out of the genre, so you can say that this is a personal interpretation. Also it's the first time that I writte for bandoneon so the left hand is pretty empty. So what do you think? it sound like tango?. The structure is simple. Introduction: A A' with repetition: B: bridge: Introduction: A A'. Also, I tried to make a sheet music video with a animated background intead of just the sheet music so it is also a experiment in that, I also attach PDF and mp3 if it is easier to read that way.
  3. Hi, i a have a Bachelor in Music Composition. Classical stuff, academic music. Afeter finishing my studies bac in 2008, i´ve been doing mainly contemporary popular music, influenced by tango, world music, rock and jazz. I am now looking for a place to do a master in composition, Europe o USA are my favorites. But i dont know which place will be good to develop composition technique in an "ECM" style, of course, looking for my personal voice. I have a few pieces os my Quintet, which show my personal style/search and level. Know good places to check? I imagine NYU would be a pretty good place... Would love to hear your opinions... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pnq3ptAAfrA&list=PLC4Bl1ZWyLBEJ3KDyCl2SKy95_7EpyHG4
