    Waltz no. 1

I think this is the first piece/idea that I ever composed. I have changed it a little bit, but it is pretty much the same as it was when it was first composed (a long while ago). It is a very simple piece and may not be a waltz to be honest (some of it is in 4/4 time). Thought I'd upload it anyway to see what you guys think. I probably won't change it much in the future as I don't really compose good waltzes and haven't had much time at all recently and probably won't for a while. Feedback is appreciated of course. Cheers.
  2. I wrote this short waltz for piano. I hope it can be interesting. Feedback apprecciated https://soundcloud.com/roberto-zini-84021232/valzer-dei-mirtilli-1
  3. Small concertino for trumpet in only one movement, inspired by Alban's variations. Any criticsm and opinion is welcomed!
  4. This is a "light" music symphony. It's inspired by the European danceable music. The Scherzo (Danza, Mov. 3) it's made in a folcklore music genre from Puerto Rico (which is where I live) Any opinion and critics are welcomed. I. Andante - Tempo di Valse II. Adagio III. Danza IV. Con brio
  5. I’m thirteen and an aspie check out my waltz couldn’t upload sound via my medium so I had to upload just sheet music.

    My Compositions

Hi everyone! I joined the forum today and i want to share two of my recent compositions. I'm not very good guitar player so please forgive my mistakes These are my compositions. I'm very new to this stuff and i would be very happy if you shared your critique with me. Dernière Valse Coeur Fissuré
  7. Greetings. I listened to lots of waltzes and nocturnes, specially those which are composed by my most favorite composer, Chopin, and I couldn't find any "Form" or formula to make a nocturne or waltz. I have searched about Waltz, and I found it's a piece with 3/4 time signature, and one chord per measure. But, I really couldn't write anything sound like a waltz I heard before. And also, I couldn't find any guides or tutorials on writing a nocturne (I know that's "Music of the night", but anything about form or anything similar?) Thanks

    Ten-second Waltz

I've been making myself composing every day. Here's what I did today! :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XUPNIRQ6ZoM&feature=youtu.be
  9. Hey guys, this is a waltz that I wrote in D minor. It's a short piece but I tried to keep it in the form. Please let me know your opinions about it :)

    Waltz in A Major

Here's a little waltz that I wrote in 2015, but never got around to finishing until recently. I hope you like it!
  11. Again, I was not sure whether this qualifies for the chamber music or the large ensemble category, but here it is. Powder Peony Waltz is a Viennese waltz written for whatever group of instruments I like (modified orchestral ensemble with ornaments in the form of a piano and celesta). I know that the transition between different keys is extremely awkward and chord progressions are not very fancy, but I was simply asked to write a quick small piece for dance class at my high school for their annual ballroom dance show. I intended to make this sweet, flowery, and light. Thank you for listening an enjoy!

    Russian Waltz

Hi everyone! This is an orchestral waltz that I've composed a few years ago, but it was only now when I got back to the piece again and I re-arranged it for a 35 piece orchestra which will play it on a film music festival in Bratislava in October. Hopefully, you'll like it, let me know please! :)

    Waltz Challenge

Here's a quick challenge-- take a piece you've previously written, or maybe part of a piece you've never finished, that's in 4/4, 2/4, or similar time signature, and change it into a waltz. Make sure it has the same pulse and general feel as a waltz. This really helped me when I was stuck on one of my songs, since I got a new perspective of the piece.

    Two Pieces (for solo viola)

So, @danishali903 called for solo viola pieces. Here are my 2 cents. I really hope the double-stops in the second piece are not uncomfortable to play :D In fact, all those legatures of the second piece can be ignored and substituted by whatever you think is more idiomatic and executable.

    Opus 8, The Doll Waltz

Opus 8, written for piano, celesta, vibraphone and triangle. Album cover and more music can be found here : https://www.reverbnation.com/mademoisellelilaclucrezia Opus 8.mp3
  16. This is a slightly revised version of my most recent concertante piece. It is a pure virtuosic showpiece for violin and orchestra in the light romantic style trying to draw inspiration from other violinist-composers like Sarasate and Wieniawski. It is in simple A-B-A form ending with a short cadenza-like coda.
  17. This is the last work I finished before my computer sadly crashed (though hopefully I will have it back up an running soon). It is a simple melancholic waltz which uncharacteristic of me, I wrote very quickly (less than a week) and much of it away from the computer. I'm fan of the Eastern European Romantic composers and Dvorak in particular and this was in part influenced by his Slavonic Dances. I hope to add at least two other waltzes to compete a set of at least three.

    Waltz

what should I need to know about waltzes before I start writing one? Is there a specific form to it? anything about the key or something that specific?
