  1. This is my first posting on this forum. This is the second piece of my waltzes suite, written in c# minor.. It's nicknamed "memories during quarantine". The opening part resembles resembles the thinker's current situation as he is mentally exhausted by the restrictions put upon him and the entire world. Then the person think's of the good times before these. To show that the waltz modulates into e major and back to c# to reach him in the current situation. Note:The Piece was made using Flat.io. It is inspired of Schubert's serenade and my favourite Chopin's nocturne and waltz in C# minor. hope you like it. 2. A piece that a friend commissioned me to write. just a simple waltz that I wrote in a day. It's repetitive and relatively simple but yeah I hope you enjoy. It's in rondo form and is essentially me trying to be as unoriginal as possible and I think it is one of my best especially as I didn't think too much about it.
  3. This is the first Waltz I ever have composed. It's in a kinda oriental sphere written. Would love to hear your opinions 🙂 https://youtu.be/8EPBmkm0vos
  4. Well, this was my very first composition, I composed this when I was 14 and about to turn 15, I called this "waltz of the 13 days" or "vals de los 13 dias" in spanish, because I composed this in 13 days. When I first started hearing "classical" music, I liked a lo beethoven's sonata no.14, since it is in C# minor, it became my very favorite key since then, and also that's why my first composition is in such a "difficult key". In this composition I used the same harmonic scheme that pachelbel's canon in D major (I, V, VIm, IIIm,IV, I,) but transposed to C# minor. and adding a dominant before the tonic to avoid that plagal cadence (Im, V, bVI, bIII,IVm, V, Im) you'll see some asymmetric phrasing, constant modulations and a lot of sequencing in this composition. any comments are apreciated :3 , would be good if everyone post they very first composition.
  5. I had this idea come to mind a few days ago. What if I combine the Waltz and the Sonata into a single piece? Since I already wrote several sonatas, I figured I would emphasize the Waltz part of this piece by constantly having a waltz-like bassline. I have finished the exposition of this piece. I made the first theme be more scalar in nature and the second theme have more arpeggios to provide melodic contrast, since the bass couldn't really provide much contrast besides key, being a waltz and all that. For the transition, I started in F major and then went to C major and then went back and forth between C major and C minor until I finally resolved to Bb major for the second theme. What do you think of the waltz so far? I'm working on the development section right now. Somebody else, outside of this forum asked if I was writing a "waltz in the style of a sonata" or a "sonata in the style of a waltz" and I answered that I am writing a "waltz in the style of a sonata", thus the title of Valse Quasi una Sonata, which translates to Waltz almost like a Sonata. 6. Hi all! This here is my first attempt to write a waltz for piano and my first attempt to transcribe it into sheet music. This piece was composed in the piano roll of a DAW. Please excuse any mistakes or unprofessional parts in the score, since I am neither a piano player nor am trained in music Theory. It is my first waltz, so I tried to keep this piece simple and understandable. The structure of the piece is as follows: Short Intro - A - B - C - A' - D - B' - C - A'' A: A rather quiet presentation of the main theme B: A lively intermediate theme 😄 A dramatic theme in a minor (?) that develops into A' A': A louder, festive presentation of the main theme 😧 A development into B' B': A simple variation of B with a few more trills A'': The first 2/3 are from A', the last 1/3 is from A. Thank you for listening & I hope you enjoy! K.R. Alex 🙂
  7. Dear all, If you have read the international news, you may have noticed the situations of the Hong Kong protests. In absurd times, conscientious men dance to weird Waltzes. And I have written one. Any comments are appreciated. Thank you. Best, HoYin
  8. Greetings. I listened to lots of waltzes and nocturnes, specially those which are composed by my most favorite composer, Chopin, and I couldn't find any "Form" or formula to make a nocturne or waltz. I have searched about Waltz, and I found it's a piece with 3/4 time signature, and one chord per measure. But, I really couldn't write anything sound like a waltz I heard before. And also, I couldn't find any guides or tutorials on writing a nocturne (I know that's "Music of the night", but anything about form or anything similar?) Thanks
  9. I think this is the first piece/idea that I ever composed. I have changed it a little bit, but it is pretty much the same as it was when it was first composed (a long while ago). It is a very simple piece and may not be a waltz to be honest (some of it is in 4/4 time). Thought I'd upload it anyway to see what you guys think. I probably won't change it much in the future as I don't really compose good waltzes and haven't had much time at all recently and probably won't for a while. Feedback is appreciated of course. Cheers.
  10. I wrote this short waltz for piano. I hope it can be interesting. Feedback apprecciated https://soundcloud.com/roberto-zini-84021232/valzer-dei-mirtilli-1
  11. Small concertino for trumpet in only one movement, inspired by Alban's variations. Any criticsm and opinion is welcomed!
  12. This is a "light" music symphony. It's inspired by the European danceable music. The Scherzo (Danza, Mov. 3) it's made in a folcklore music genre from Puerto Rico (which is where I live) Any opinion and critics are welcomed. I. Andante - Tempo di Valse II. Adagio III. Danza IV. Con brio
  13. I’m thirteen and an aspie check out my waltz couldn’t upload sound via my medium so I had to upload just sheet music.
  14. Hi everyone! I joined the forum today and i want to share two of my recent compositions. I'm not very good guitar player so please forgive my mistakes These are my compositions. I'm very new to this stuff and i would be very happy if you shared your critique with me. Dernière Valse Coeur Fissuré
  15. I've been making myself composing every day. Here's what I did today! :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XUPNIRQ6ZoM&feature=youtu.be
  16. Hey guys, this is a waltz that I wrote in D minor. It's a short piece but I tried to keep it in the form. Please let me know your opinions about it :)
  17. Here's a little waltz that I wrote in 2015, but never got around to finishing until recently. I hope you like it!
  18. Again, I was not sure whether this qualifies for the chamber music or the large ensemble category, but here it is. Powder Peony Waltz is a Viennese waltz written for whatever group of instruments I like (modified orchestral ensemble with ornaments in the form of a piano and celesta). I know that the transition between different keys is extremely awkward and chord progressions are not very fancy, but I was simply asked to write a quick small piece for dance class at my high school for their annual ballroom dance show. I intended to make this sweet, flowery, and light. Thank you for listening an enjoy!
  19. Hi everyone! This is an orchestral waltz that I've composed a few years ago, but it was only now when I got back to the piece again and I re-arranged it for a 35 piece orchestra which will play it on a film music festival in Bratislava in October. Hopefully, you'll like it, let me know please! :)
  20. Here's a quick challenge-- take a piece you've previously written, or maybe part of a piece you've never finished, that's in 4/4, 2/4, or similar time signature, and change it into a waltz. Make sure it has the same pulse and general feel as a waltz. This really helped me when I was stuck on one of my songs, since I got a new perspective of the piece.
  21. So, @danishali903 called for solo viola pieces. Here are my 2 cents. I really hope the double-stops in the second piece are not uncomfortable to play :D In fact, all those legatures of the second piece can be ignored and substituted by whatever you think is more idiomatic and executable.
