I'm not. Orangeville. about an hour or so north. that camp was in Guelph, though. actually, in a place called eden mills, a tiny little place in Guelph.

/me reminds robin of the want of various lead sheets

That's very close to Toronto...I consider anything from London to Kingston close... :)

ANYWAY...it's cool you're around here, there's a lot of scraggy happening if you know where to look.

aaaaand, check your PMs.

hah. good stuff. thanks, I will definitely check those out. anything in particular you think I should be looking for?

Just be aware of how the melody works with the changes. The melody is like the perfect solo - and as an improvisor, you're constantly inventing 'new' melodies. So, observe how/why the melody works the way it does, and incorporate that into the improvisation.

sure. and I have been. it's been fun, I've been playing some of this stuff on the keys, and it is interesting to look at that chords and such, now that you pointed out to me what you did.

I think that I will be writing some better charts now, but certainly, I will be playing better. I want to keep learning, but now that I have this stuff to practice, and there isn't much more in terms of teaching you can do UNTIL I get more familiar with this stuff, how about we change the lessons a bit and turn them into jazz composition lessons? I really want to get better at that as well, and... well, you know a lot, and I would love to pick your brain about some of that stuff.

great. well, then... um.. where should we start? should I upload some stuff? no, I shouldn't. I should really just link to the forum where I've already uploaded them, cause they give a free explanation too :)

of course you've seen some...

but, erm, I will link to them for reminder.

so.... I think that my biggest ground for improvement would be in my chord progressions. they are simple, for the most part, and I would really like it have more interesting ones. melodies are pretty easy for me to come by.. they just sort of pop out.

anyhow, the three jazz charts that I have put up here are :

Autumn Dusk

Sunset in the City

Untitled Ballad

there you are. tell me what you think I'm good and bad at, so that maybe we will have a beachhead on where to start :)
