How about: crushed bells, bent bells, EXTRA bells, rivets, tissue paper, water, small desk fans, homemade mutes, remove a valve slide... and so on. Where did you come across "prepared trumpet" ... Posted September 22, 2009 Share Posted September 22, 2009 Yes, it works with trombone and horn as well, and to a lesser extent tuba (I ended up having to fish it out with a hook 'cause it got caught against a dent...) I'm sure if you put the mic right up to the bell you'd really get the effect. Works best if you plug the small end of the kazoo, seems to make it louder. Drove the band director nuts 'cause we passed the kazoo down the trumpet line and it was somebody else every other few bars. And... you're having a double-belled trombone made??? Christopher Dunn-Rankin Posted September 24, 2009 Share Posted September 24, 2009 A friend of mine swapped out one of the tuning slides in his horn for a plastic tube that contained a pick-up - he then used an amplifier to set up feedback loops that he could control and alter by changing the fingering on the horn.
