Yasamune
So I recently got my hands on a copy of the full score of Aho's Contrabassoon Concerto. Now I understand that in some OLD (please keep that word in mind) that english horn might be written in Alto Clef. Seems logical enough to me, even though it's a scallop to read. Now here comes the weird part. I looked at most of the French Horn part and it looks like at least half of it is in Alto Clef. HALF!!! Anyone ever come across this kind of stuff? Weca
It almost makes decent sense as the horn is classically an alto instrument. An alto transposition puts the notes in almost the same spots as an F treble transposition. However no I've never seen it before.
Tokkemon
What piece was it from and what edition?
Yasamune
What piece was it from and what edition? There's only one. It was composed in 2005, commissioned by Lewis Lipnick, premiere recorded by him, the Bergen Philharmonic and Andrew Litton. The only copy is published by Fennica Gehrman.
