I just answered a question about notation in other thread and I find all these names very confusing, just take a look to this word: "semihemidemisemiquavers" blink.gif come on... different words should be used instead keep adding pre-terms for the same "quaver" thing...

thisquaver, thatquaver, herequaver, therequaver....

I use these:

Redonda

Blanca

Negra

Corchea

SemiCorchea*

Fusa

SemiFusa*

*ok, we use the "semi" thing too toothygrin.gif but at least it remains short.

I'm from, .. below my avatar says

Intresting, is this system Mexican, or Spanish?

I'm assuming that Blanca is the Minmim, and Negra is the quarver... which makes a whole lot of sense when compared to either the american or british system, lol.

Up with making sense, down with sticking with systems that don't make sense just because everyone uses them and is too lazy to switch! =D

I don't know who invented it but is used in all spanish talking countries, (but wouldn't surprise me if someone tells me is different in Spain, because everything is different in Spain, I just downloaded some movies with Audio in spanish but from Spain, and I only get less that a half of what they say wacko.gif ).

No, is like this:

Redonda (means "Round") = Whole

Blanca ("White") = Half

Negra ("Black") = Quarter

Corchea (no translation i think) = 8th Quaver

SemiCorchea (no trans. ) = 16ths

Fusa (no trans.) = 32th

Semifusa (no trans) = 64th

Garrapatea (no trans) = 128th (must ignore these names, cos are rarely used)

Semiarrapatea (no trans) = 256th

Anyone know how the Frenchies call them ?
